According to Kuaitech on August 9th, production of display panels for Apple's upcoming iPhone 16 series has officially begun. Samsung and LG, key suppliers to Apple, have commenced large-scale panel production to meet the anticipated high demand for the new models.

It is reported that Apple has placed an order for 80 million screen panels with Samsung, while LG, as a secondary supplier, has secured an order for 43 million panels. This indicates Apple's confidence in the iPhone 16 series' sales, with projected shipments reaching 90 million units. Consequently, the current panel orders already exceed 30% of the total demand.

Notably, LG benefits most from this order, with its panel supply volume increasing by approximately 10 million units from last year, securing over 30% of the market share, sharing the market with Samsung. In comparison, Samsung's order volume hasn't witnessed a significant surge compared to previous years. However, due to its provision of a larger proportion of panels for the higher-priced iPhone 16 Pro and ProMax models, its revenue is expected to increase nonetheless.

It is understood that Samsung's panel supply for the iPhone 16 Pro and ProMax models accounts for approximately 60% of its total output. This implies that Samsung will continue to dominate the high-end market, while LG will play a more prominent role in the mid-range market.

The confirmation of this order also suggests that Apple's selection of screen panel suppliers for the iPhone 16 series is primarily driven by price and performance considerations. Samsung, as a long-standing supplier, maintains its technological edge and production capabilities. Meanwhile, LG, leveraging its more competitive pricing and prompt response capabilities, has successfully secured a larger market share. In the future, as Apple's demand for display panels continues to rise, the competition between Samsung and LG is expected to intensify.
