Xiaomi today announced the August update for its Surge OS, focusing on optimizing smoothness and boosting app response speed for a more seamless user experience. The Xiaomi 14 series and Redmi K70 series will be the first to receive the update, with rollout starting today. The Xiaomi 13 series, Xiaomi MIX Fold 3, Redmi Turbo 3, among others, will follow suit throughout August. Xiaomi Civi4 Pro and Redmi K60 series will receive the update starting mid-September.

Zhang Guoquan, Director of Xiaomi's System Software Department, highlighted that Xiaomi completed a round of experience upgrades from late June to mid-July, introducing the much-anticipated travel assistant along with various improvements and bug fixes. Today marks the beginning of the rollout for the next wave of OTA updates, prioritizing optimization in app launch latency. The goal is to achieve near-zero wait times, ensuring apps respond instantly the moment users touch the screen.

To achieve this level of fluidity, the Xiaomi team meticulously dissected every aspect of the app launch chain, internally reviewing over 20 technical solutions before settling on the final improvements in app launch performance.
