As the first half of 2024 approaches, leaks about the next iPhone SE (provisionally named iPhone SE4) have been circulating more frequently. According to the latest reports, the new model will feature 8GB of RAM and will be the first to incorporate Apple's upcoming "AppleIntelligence" AI functionality, set to debut in iOS 18.1.

Earlier reports suggested Apple's plans to add AI capabilities to all subsequent iPhone models, and the 8GB RAM configuration of the iPhone SE4 seems to confirm this. It's been said that only the iPhone 15 Pro series models with 8GB of RAM will be able to support "AppleIntelligence," as the feature requires considerable RAM for smooth operation.

Moreover, Apple's backend code has revealed the existence of new model numbers that are not associated with existing iPhone models. These numbers use the same naming scheme as the flagship models and all begin with the same digit, hinting at the use of the same chip. Four of these numbers represent the new iPhone 16 series, which will be equipped with the new A18 series chip. The remaining number, however, points to the iPhone SE4. This suggests that it will share the same chip as the iPhone 16 series.

If these leaks prove true, the release of the iPhone SE4 will have a significant impact on the positioning of the iPhone lineup. Currently, the standard iPhone 15 doesn't support Apple's latest AI functionality, while the lower-priced iPhone SE4 is expected to do so.
