Anthropic's Claude mobile app has achieved a milestone, surpassing $1 million in total revenue on both the Google Play Store and Apple AppStore, marking its initial success on the mobile platform. However, despite this accomplishment, Claude still lags significantly behind its primary competitor, ChatGPT, in terms of market standing.
According to recent data from app intelligence company Appfigures, ChatGPT ranks first in total downloads on the US iOS platform and 26th in overall revenue. In the productivity category, Claude ranks only 95th in downloads and 68th in revenue. These figures indicate that while Claudes mobile performance has outpaced Microsoft's Copilot and Perplexity, which took 19 weeks and 22 weeks respectively to reach $1 million in revenue, it still faces a considerable gap compared to ChatGPT.
Claudes initial launch garnered a lukewarm market response, achieving only 157,000 global downloads in its first week. In contrast, ChatGPT's iOS-only launch in the United States resulted in 480,000 installations within the first five days and garnered $1 million in revenue within just three weeks. This indicates that ChatGPT enjoys greater recognition and user acceptance, holding a larger advantage in the mobile market.
Despite this, Claude still exhibits potential, its milestone of reaching $1 million in revenue demonstrates user acceptance and expectations. Moving forward, Claude needs to further enhance user experience, optimize product features, and intensify marketing efforts to close the gap with ChatGPT and achieve greater success in the mobile market.
