Imaging: Super Telephoto Lossless Zoom

The biggest highlight of the Realme 13 Pro+ this time is its 50MP super telephoto periscope camera. It is the first to feature the 1/1.95-inch Sony LYT-600 extra-large sensor, which enables 3x optical zoom and 6x ISZ lossless zoom. This ISZ (In-SensorZoom) lossless zoom essentially refers to imaging within the central area of the sensor, making full use of the advantages of high pixels to generate a 6x telephoto photo with no pixel loss. Without further ado, let's check out how the super telephoto periscope camera on this Realme 13 Pro+ performs!

To better showcase the telephoto travel photography advantages of this phone, we went to the famous tourist city of Chongqing, known as the Mountain City, to see what kind of shots the super telephoto periscope camera on this Realme 13 Pro+ can help us capture.

Stop 1: Chaotianmen

We visited Chaotianmen, one of the landmarks of Chongqing. The sun was particularly strong that day in Chongqing, so to avoid direct sunlight while taking pictures, I hid in the shade. Although I was a bit far away, using the 3x telephoto lens allowed for proper framing even from a distance. Standing tall in Chaotianmen Square is the new Chongqing landmark, "Raffles City," a towering skyscraper that begs to be captured with a telephoto lens. Using the 6x lossless zoom on the Realme 13 Pro+ to photograph the 356-meter tall building, even the details of the building's facade remain incredibly clear, demonstrating the truly amazing telephoto capabilities of this phone. Switching back to the 3x focal length also results in a good composition, with the older buildings on both sides framing the ultra-modern Raffles City, giving a sense of a surreal blend of old and new, creating a visually impactful effect.

Stop 2: Along the Yangtze River

Continuing along the Yangtze River, the distant cruise ships on the river were captured with all their details thanks to the powerful telephoto capability of the Realme 13 Pro+. The words on the ship's roof, the tables and chairs on the deck, even the interior decorations visible through the glass windows, could all be seen clearly.

Stop 3: Baixiangju

Next, we arrived at the classic check-in spot, Baixiangju. This area is actually a cluster of densely packed residential buildings, but due to its unique architectural design and excellent views, it has now become a gathering place for tourists and photography enthusiasts. As soon as we entered Baixiangju, we felt a slight drop in temperature. Because the distance between the buildings is relatively close, the areas exposed to sunlight are limited. As shown in the sample photo below, there is a clear difference in brightness and darkness on the building surfaces. However, the Realme 13 Pro+'s telephoto periscope lens handles this scene very well. The bright areas are not overexposed, while the details in the dark areas are also preserved, resulting in a very comfortable overall visual experience.

On the rooftop of one of the buildings in Baixiangju, we found an excellent spot to photograph the Yangtze River Ropeway. This photo captures the Baixiangju buildings, the Yangtze River Ropeway cabins, and the Raffles City building in Chaotianmen, all in the same frame, creating a strong sense of depth with a foreground, middle ground, and background. This is the unique visual impact that can only be achieved with telephoto photography.

Stop 4: Chance Encounter with a Plane

After exploring Baixiangju, we continued on our way to the next stop. While walking, we suddenly heard the roar of an engine. Looking up, we saw a plane passing by. At that moment, the sky was clear and cloudless, so I immediately took out my phone, opened the camera, and pressed the shutter, capturing this photo. For such fleeting moments, the Realme 13 Pro+'s telephoto lens responds quickly and accurately, capturing special moments with blazing fast speed.

Stop 5: Jiefangbei Pedestrian Street

Our next stop was Jiefangbei Pedestrian Street, an area that is truly bustling with people. So when I was taking a picture of the "People's Liberation Monument," it was hard to avoid capturing other tourists. This is where the advantages of telephoto come into play. By simply zooming in to 3x, I was able to capture the main part of the Jiefangbei Monument, avoiding other tourists in the foreground, making the photo look cleaner.

Stop 6: Li Zibazhan Station

Before sunset, we made our way to "Li Zibazhan Station," the famous "light rail through a building" spot in Chongqing. The viewing platform offering photos and souvenirs is at a distance that allows for the use of the Realme 13 Pro+'s 3x telephoto lens. We waited for the exact moment the light rail entered the building and pressed the shutter. This super telephoto periscope camera demonstrates its first-rate capturing capabilities by delivering high-quality photos even when shooting fast-moving subjects.

Stop 7: Guanyinqiao

As dusk settled, our next check-in spot was the perfect place to test the Realme 13 Pro+'s night telephoto capabilities. The giant advertising screen in Chongqing's Guanyinqiao has become a new tourist attraction. The sample photo below was taken from a bridge hundreds of meters away using 6x zoom. Capturing a brightly lit, light-colored advertising billboard requires strong highlight suppression capabilities. The Realme 13 Pro+'s 6x telephoto image effectively suppresses the highlight areas, while the cars and people on the road still have rich details, avoiding a completely blacked-out appearance. This nighttime imaging performance is certainly commendable.

Imaging: Dual Focal Length Flagship Main Camera

After seeing the performance of the super telephoto periscope camera, let's take a look at the Realme 13 Pro+'s main camera performance. This main camera utilizes a Sony LYT-701 large-sensor, also supporting lossless zoom up to 2x. Let's dive right into the real-shot sample photos to see how it performs.

First, let's take a look at the Raffles City captured from the location of the Hongyu Building. The 24mm focal length adds a slight wide-angle effect to the image, creating a sense of envelopment for the distant buildings. If you dont like the wide-angle effect, switching to a 2x image will give you a photo of equal quality. The high-quality 49mm focal length provides more possibilities for shooting composition. Compared to the 1x main camera's image, I personally prefer using the 2x lossless zoom for shooting. The quality remains the same while avoiding wide-angle distortion around the edges.
