According to MacRumors, Apple is set to release the final version of macOS 15 Sequoia in mid-September. While Apple's major iOS updates typically arrive in September, macOS release dates have been less consistent. In recent years, new macOS updates have been released in September, October, and November. This report indicates that Apple plans to release both iOS 18 and macOS Sequoia around the same time, rather than delaying the latter until October.
The main reason for releasing both updates concurrently is to ensure smooth operation of cross-platform features like iPhone Mirroring. As a key new feature in macOS Sequoia, iPhone Mirroring allows users to control their iOS 18 iPhones using a Mac running macOS 15.
Besides iPhone Mirroring, macOS Sequoia will introduce other new features, including a revamped window tiling system, a dedicated Passwords app, and updates to Safari, Messages, Maps, Notes, and more.
It's worth noting that Apple's AI feature, Apple Intelligence, won't be included in macOS Sequoia or iOS 18. Instead, it will be introduced in subsequent updates: iOS 18.1 and macOS Sequoia 15.1. These updates are expected to be released in October.
