Google's recent Android 15 QPR1 Beta update has quietly included significant improvements for desktop mode. As discovered by Android expert Mishaal Rahman, the Beta update adds a new page to the Settings app specifically tailored for users connecting their phones to external displays. The code strings Rahman uncovered suggest that users will be able to adjust certain settings for connected external displays through the "Settings > Connected devices > External display" option.

The code strings reveal that users will be able to set the external screen's resolution to 1920x1080, 1280x1024, and 1280x720, and select "Advanced" resolutions like 1024x768, 800x600, 720x480, etc., under the "More options" section. Users will also be able to change the display's rotation angle from standard to 180, 270, or 90. Notably, Google warns users that changing the rotation angle or resolution of the external display while it's connected might cause currently running apps to stop.

Rahman enabled the new external display settings page on his Pixel 8 Pro and shared screenshots. The screenshots reveal a toggle switch that enables users to disable the external display without physically disconnecting it from the phone.

This new feature signifies Google's efforts to improve Android's desktop mode.
