To address these concerns, Cai Lian She reporters contacted Apple's official hotline to inquire about the situation. An Apple China technical consultant responded, stating that Apple is currently actively communicating with Tencent to confirm whether Tencent will continue to pay commissions for software downloads on the Apple App Store.
The technical consultant explained that the issue of whether iOS or Apple devices can continue to use WeChat, and whether WeChat will continue to be available for download on the Apple App Store, requires mutual communication and discussion between Apple and Tencent to determine the final outcome.
He elaborated that developers need to pay Apple a certain fee to list and download their software on the Apple App Store. Additionally, once a software reaches a certain download volume, developers must pay Apple a fee whenever a user downloads the software.
"Currently, Apple is actively communicating with Tencent to confirm whether Tencent will continue to pay commissions for software downloads on the Apple App Store," emphasized the technical consultant.
He also assured users, stating that WeChat, being a widely used software, both parties will make necessary adjustments for their respective benefits. Therefore, there is no need to worry at this time.
