Samsung Galaxy S25 Series Rumored to Feature Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 Across the Lineup, Battery Specs Expected to Remain Similar to Predecessors
With the news of smartphones powered by the next-generation Snapdragon 8 flagship platform set to launch in October, Samsung's next-generation S series flagship has also sparked widespread interest. While the official launch is still some time away, leaks about the Galaxy S25 series have been circulating. The latest rumors suggest that Samsung will equip the entire Galaxy S25 series with Qualcomm's next-generation Snapdragon 8 flagship platform, in an effort to compete head-on with the AI-powered new iPhone 16 series, in the increasingly competitive flagship smartphone market.
Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo previously predicted that Samsung's self-developed Exynos 2500 flagship platform might not be ready on time due to low yield rates for Samsung's 3nm GAA process. This means Samsung will equip all Galaxy S25 series models with Qualcomm's fourth-generation Snapdragon 8 chip. Meanwhile, there are reports that Qualcomm will launch two versions of the fourth-generation Snapdragon 8 chip: the SM8750 with Qualcomm's integrated modem and the SM8750P without a modem, only offering Wi-Fi connectivity. Speculation suggests that Samsung might use its own 5G modem in the SM8750P chip provided by Qualcomm.
In fact, there have been many speculations regarding whether the Samsung Galaxy S25 series will feature Samsung's own Exynos chips. In July, it was reported that the early mass production of the Exynos 2500 chip was already ready, bringing it closer to official mass production. This new flagship chip is expected to be featured in the Galaxy S25 and Galaxy S25+ models. The Exynos 2500 chip is rumored to use silicon capacitors, often using a metal-insulator-metal (MIM) three-layer structure, which are ultra-thin and closer in shape to semiconductors, enabling better voltage stability in response to current changes. It offers advantages such as low manufacturing costs, high reliability, long lifespan, and small size.
However, there is no official confirmation on whether Samsung will use Qualcomm chips across the entire Galaxy S25 series. The actual situation of the new products can only be confirmed with more information in the future.
Besides the processor news, Samsung's lithium-ion battery packs with model numbers EB-BS938ABY and EB-BS938ABE have recently received 3C certification. The certification information reveals that the battery has a rated capacity of 4855mAh, a charging voltage limit of 4.47V, a nominal voltage of 3.88V, and a rated energy of 18.84Wh. It is speculated that this certified battery will be the one built into the new Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra. This means the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra will have a built-in battery with a rated capacity of 4855mAh and support up to 45W charging, basically continuing the battery life and charging specifications of the previous generation.
Previously, the battery certification information for the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra was also leaked. The previous certification documents showed two slightly different battery models, EB-BS938ABY and EB-BS938ABE, consistent with the latest 3C certification information. It is still unclear how these two different models will be used, but reports indicate that the new Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra will adopt a single-battery design instead of the dual-battery solution used in the Galaxy Z foldable phones.
Overall, a large amount of details about the new Samsung S series flagship have been revealed, and more related information is expected to surface. Interested users can stay tuned for updates.
