Tech media Smartprix today published a blog post revealing the camera specifications of the Xiaomi 15 Ultra, which includes several anticipated upgrades, including a new 200MP telephoto lens, 4K cinematic mode, and significantly enhanced slow-motion mode.

Xiaomi and Sony have maintained a close partnership, achieving remarkable results in the camera field. The Xiaomi 14 Ultra main camera features the LYT-900, a second-generation 1-inch sensor, whose performance surpasses that of the Sony IMX989. Compared to the IMX989, the LYT-900 offers a 43% reduction in power consumption and achieves a 14EV native super dynamic range, 9.5 times that of the IMX989, allowing for better preservation of details in both bright and dark areas. It is reported that Xiaomi and Sony are currently collaborating on an enhanced sensor specifically designed for the Xiaomi 15 Ultra, which will further improve camera performance in low-light conditions and other environments.

One of the most anticipated upgrades in the Xiaomi 15 Ultra is the introduction of a dedicated 4K cinematic video mode. While the Xiaomi 14 Ultra already features a Cinematic Mode, it only supports 1080P recording. The Xiaomi 15 Ultra will incorporate a new image processing chip and the Snapdragon 8Gen4 chip, combined with Image Signal Processing (ISP) enhancements, significantly improving slow-motion mode and further enhancing video capture capabilities.

In terms of zoom, the Xiaomi 14 Ultra offers zoom options of 0.5x, 1x, 2x, 3.2x, and 5x. The Xiaomi 15 Ultra will add a 10x zoom option, primarily achieved through the new 200MP telephoto camera. Higher resolution translates into greater zoom capabilities, providing users with a wider range of shooting choices.

Additionally, the Xiaomi 15 Ultra's selfie camera will see an upgrade, potentially featuring a 50MP front-facing camera, offering a noticeable improvement in selfie quality compared to the 32MP camera of the Xiaomi 14 Ultra.

Beyond camera upgrades, the Xiaomi 15 Ultra will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8Gen4 chip, equipped with a 2K curved display, boast a larger battery capacity, and feature a ceramic or leather back design.

Sources indicate that Xiaomi is expected to launch the Xiaomi 15 Ultra in the first quarter of 2025. The camera upgrades will further enhance the imaging capabilities of Xiaomi smartphones, leaving us eagerly awaiting its arrival!
