Smartprix, a tech publication, has today revealed details about the Xiaomi 15 Ultra's camera configuration, hinting at significant camera upgrades in this upcoming flagship.
Xiaomi and Sony are collaborating on an enhanced custom sensor specifically designed for the Xiaomi 15 Ultra, surpassing the LYT-900 sensor used in the Xiaomi 14 Ultra. This new sensor promises improved low-light performance, delivering even clearer and more detailed photos and videos.
The LYT-900 sensor on the Xiaomi 14 Ultra boasts a 50MP resolution with a large 1/0.98-inch sensor size. It features a 1.6m pixel size and Xiaomi's second-generation variable aperture technology, allowing a maximum aperture of f/1.63. Compared to the IMX989, the LYT-900 reduces power consumption by 43% and boasts a 14EV native ultra-dynamic range, 9.5 times that of the IMX989, capturing richer details in both highlights and shadows for more realistic imagery.
Notably, the Xiaomi 15 Ultra will introduce a dedicated 4K movie video mode, further enhancing video capture capabilities. While the Xiaomi 14 Ultra already includes a movie mode, it is limited to 1080P resolution. The next-generation imaging chip and Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chip's advanced image signal processing (ISP) contribute to significantly improved slow-motion capabilities, allowing users to capture even more stunning moments.
The Xiaomi 15 Ultra will also feature a new telephoto lens with a 200MP resolution and 10x zoom capability, a substantial upgrade from the 5x zoom on the Xiaomi 14 Ultra. This offers enhanced telephoto capabilities, allowing users to capture distant subjects with greater clarity. Additionally, the Xiaomi 15 Ultra's front-facing camera may be upgraded to 50MP, surpassing the 32MP selfie camera on the Xiaomi 14 Ultra, further boosting selfie performance.
Beyond the camera, the Xiaomi 15 Ultra is expected to feature Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chip, a 2K display with curved edges on all four sides, and a centrally positioned circular rear camera design. It will be available in vegan leather, glass fiber, and ceramic materials. This highly anticipated flagship is expected to launch in the first quarter of next year, leaving us eagerly awaiting its arrival.
