Back in May, Lei Technology received a phone that was truly a "one-sided student"the vivo Y200GT. Its incredibly large battery and phenomenal battery life left a deep impression on me. However, just three months later, Lei Technology received an even more "one-sided" phone, also from vivo, and even an iteration of the Y200the Y300Pro. Its biggest highlight is its battery life, with a massive 6500mAh capacity, and it seems to have some improvements in other aspects too.

Mid-Range or Flagship? You Can't Tell the Difference

The appearance design has always been a selling point of vivo's Y series. The design language of the previous Y200GT was very similar to the iQOO 12 series, and this time, the Y300Pro directly aims to emulate vivo's own top flagship. Yes, when Lei Technology opened the box and saw the phone, I thought vivo had sent me the wrong phone. Whether it's the camera module design or the titanium color scheme, it's almost identical to the flagship models that Lei Technology has experienced before, even using the same decorative ring design on the edge of the camera module. Not to mention, it looks really premium.

However, due to cost constraints, the vivo Y300Pro's back cover and frame are made of plastic. While it lacks the premium and gentle feel of glass and ceramic, the benefit is that the phone is lighter and more resistant to drops. This feature is actually an advantage for a thousand-yuan phone.

The specifications aren't the true highlight of this screen, but rather the use of the four micro-curved screen that's usually found on flagship phones. Furthermore, the vivo Y300Pro is also a phone with a thickness of just 7.69mm, a weight of 194g, and the first phone to receive SGS Five-Star Whole-Machine Drop Resistance Certification. According to vivo's official statement, the Y300Pro's body structure incorporates a new type of high-elastic shock-absorbing material, the four corners are also thickened, and combined with the 2x impact-resistant strength of the Diamond Shield glass, its drop resistance is undoubtedly excellent.

To be honest, if you aren't obsessed with so-called extreme performance and top-notch photography capabilities, its grip and usage experience absolutely won't be inferior to some top flagship phones.

6500mAh, Terrifying!

If you ask what attracts Lei Technology the most about the vivo Y300Pro, it has to be the massive 6500mAh battery. In comparison, the iPhone 15 Pro in Lei Technology's hand has a measly 3274mAh battery, exactly half that of the Y300Pro. As for how vivo squeezed such a high-capacity battery into a 7.69mm body, it mainly utilizes the same silicon-carbon negative electrode battery material as its flagship brother, the vivo XFold3, with an energy density as high as 791Wh/L. Vivo is willing to use flagship-level technology in this price segment, it seems like vivo really has high hopes for the Y300Pro.

In terms of charging specifications, the vivo Y300Pro comes equipped with 80W wired fast charging technology. Looking at the number alone, it's not particularly high, but among products in the same price range, this should be the only phone with a 6500mAh+80W combination. Of course, even though Lei Technology is reluctant, I still conducted a battery life test on the vivo Y300Pro (after all, 6500mAh, testing it for a day might not even be enough).

As you can see from the above image, this oversized battery has indeed brought unparalleled battery life to the vivo Y300Pro. For daily tasks like scrolling through Weibo and watching B station, it's child's play. Even low-intensity gaming won't significantly increase the rate of its battery depletion. Even with one hour of continuous 4K video recording, a power-hungry task, it only caused a 16% drop in battery. However, it's worth noting that the Y300Pro is equipped with the Snapdragon 6Gen1, a low-power processor, so it struggles with more performance-demanding games. Of course, this is also one of the reasons why its battery life is so phenomenal.

After completely draining the battery, Lei Technology also tested its fast charging speed. After all, the 80W+6500mAh combination is truly a first for Lei Technology. It's quite embarrassing, maybe due to early system bugs, Lei Technology tested it several times, and the Y300Pro's charging power remained around 34W, taking a full hour to charge from 1% to full. Hopefully, vivo can fix this bug soon because according to Lei Technology's calculations, the Y300Pro's charging time should be around 40 minutes.

Not Powerful, But Enough

At the beginning of the article, Lei Technology mentioned that the Y300Pro is a "one-sided" student. It spends almost all its cost on battery and design, which means its configuration isn't as strong as other top-value-for-money models in the same price range. For example, this Snapdragon 6Gen1 processor is built using Samsung's 4nm process, with a CPU composed of 42.21GHz Cortex-A78+41.8GHz Cortex-A55, and the GPU is Adreno710. Overall performance is comparable to the Snapdragon 778. It's not powerful, but it can meet users' daily needs.

Based on actual testing, the vivo Y300Pro can almost achieve full frame rate when facing games like "King of Glory" and "Peace Elite" that don't require much performance. However, when testing "Genshin Impact," the vivo Y300Pro experienced multiple frame rate drops to below 30 FPS. Considering its price and positioning, this performance isn't surprising.

In terms of imaging, the vivo Y300Pro's main camera is a 50-megapixel LYT-600 sensor, paired with a 2-megapixel bokeh lens that can be considered a filler. This is basically the standard configuration for the same price range.

It can only be said that the blue factory's camera optimization algorithm is top-notch. In daylight, the Y300Pro's resolution is quite satisfactory. At night, although it takes half a second to synthesize the image, the effect is not bad. For daily use and simple recording, if you don't need an ultrawide lens, this configuration is more than enough.
