Huawei's MateXT Extraordinary Master, the first ever tri-fold phone, is set to officially launch on September 10th, garnering widespread attention across the industry. When asked about his thoughts on Huawei's tri-fold phone after the Berlin launch, Honor CEO Zhao Ming stated that he was contemplating whether Huawei's release was a display of strength or a genuine response to demand. However, he emphasized that tri-fold technology is not a challenge for Honor.
Honor's current foldable phone portfolio is comprehensive, boasting the world's thinnest outward-folding V Purse and the world's thinnest inward-folding MagicV3. In June, Honor also released the MagicVFlip, the first vertical small-fold phone, making it the only manufacturer with three foldable phone types - vertical fold, horizontal inward fold, and horizontal outward fold.
Zhao Ming has previously stated publicly that Honor has completed the technical aspects of tri-fold screens, and the commercialization timeline will be determined based on consumer demand. He believes that tri-fold technology is not a technical hurdle, but a commercial decision. He has even hinted at Honor's investments in tri-fold, scroll and other technologies, although they remain undisclosed.
