YouTube channel creators Matthew Perkins and Arun Maini, from DIYPerks and MrWhoseTheBoss respectively, have successfully built a giant, fully functional iPhone 15 Pro Max, breaking a Guinness World Record. This behemoth stands at 6.74 feet tall (approximately 2.05 meters) and weighs in at 440 pounds (approximately 199.58 kilograms), almost perfectly replicating the iPhones appearance and functionality.

Perkins first tackled the creation of the screen. He repurposed an LG Signature 88-inch OLED television into a responsive touchscreen. To achieve touch functionality, he commissioned a manufacturer to create a touch foil the size of the screen, attaching it using ultraviolet epoxy.

Next, Perkins faced the challenge of fitting oversized versions of iPhone components into a frame, including speakers, triple camera modules, volume and power buttons, and special function buttons. He crafted an aluminum frame, incorporating a cross-shaped support structure in the middle. To replicate the iPhone 15 Pro Maxs telephoto lens, Perkins even utilized professional cameras like the Canon EOS R5 and Sony RX10 Mark IV. The frame was designed to permanently mount onto an equally massive phone stand, allowing rotation.

Since Apples iOS is a closed-source system, Perkins and Maini opted for Android. They used BlissOS to mimic the iPhones home screen interface and successfully installed the classic game Flappy Bird.

This giant iPhone is not only enormous in size but also packed with features. Maini and his friends took it for a spin in the streets of London, discovering that it could perform Tap-to-Pay payments, send emails, and even make video calls.

Building this giant phone required a significant amount of effort and funds. Reportedly, the total cost of this massive creation amounted to $70,000 (approximately 496,000 Chinese yuan).

The birth of this giant iPhone 15 Pro Max showcases the creativity and technological prowess of Perkins and Maini, demonstrating the limitless possibilities of technology. Its not only a breathtaking piece of art but also a bold endeavor, proving that even the most extraordinary ideas can become reality.
