This news signifies that the OPPO Find X8 series will be the first flagship smartphone to support IP69 dust and water resistance, further enhancing the phone's durability and safety.
Currently, the entry-level OPPO A3Pro is the only phone in the company's lineup to feature IP69 dust and water resistance. IP66, while less familiar, is actually the highest level of dust and water resistance. The more widely known IP68, considered standard for flagship phones, signifies that a device is waterproof.
The second two digits in the IPXX rating represent the level of dust and water resistance. The first X represents the dust resistance rating, ranging from 0 to 6, with 6 being the highest. The second X represents the waterproof rating, with 8 being the highest level previously seen on smartphones. However, a new, even higher level, 9, has recently emerged. IP69 water resistance indicates that the device can withstand high-pressure, high-temperature water or steam while operating normally.
Specifically, devices with IP69 protection can withstand a water pressure of up to 100 bar and water flow temperatures of up to 80C. Therefore, devices with IP69 protection can offer excellent protection even when used during a shower, something previously unattainable with IP68.
