TF International: iPhone 16 Series Shipment Forecast Raised, Standard Edition to Drive Growth
On September 9th, TF International Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo released a production report on the iPhone 16/Pro series, predicting that the 2024 iPhone 16 series shipment forecast will be raised from 8788 million units to 8889 million units. The main increase comes from the iPhone 16 standard edition. Kuo expects the iPhone 16 standard, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro, and iPhone 16 Pro Max to account for approximately 26%, 6%, 30%, and 38% of the total iPhone 16 series shipments in 2024, respectively.
The report shows that the iPhone 16 series had shipments of 9 million units in August and 16 million units in September, with 1517 million units prepared for pre-order. The third-quarter shipments will see a 10% year-on-year growth, but the fourth quarter is expected to decline by 57% year-on-year (compared to the iPhone 15 series during the same period last year).
Kuo believes that the main reason for the increase in iPhone 16 standard edition shipments is the upgraded configuration, including a faster processor, larger memory, and a more advanced camera system. These upgrades will attract more users to choose the standard edition, thereby driving overall shipment growth.
In addition, the iPhone 16 Pro series shipments are expected to remain stable but may decline slightly compared with the same period last year. This may be due to a slowdown in demand for high-end smartphones, leading to a decrease in user upgrade intentions.
It's worth noting that the iPhone 16 series shipments are expected to peak in the third quarter and decline in the fourth quarter. This aligns with the historical shipment trend, as shipments typically decline after the holiday shopping season.
Overall, Kuo remains optimistic about the iPhone 16 series shipments, predicting it to be a key revenue source for Apple in 2024.
