Apple iPhone 16 Launched, Honor Magic7 with AIAgent Leads the New Wave of AI in Smartphones
On the early morning of September 10th, the Apple iPhone 16 series was officially released, finally revealing the veil on Apple's intelligent AI features. The launch showcased AI capabilities including text processing, text-to-image generation, and the debut of rapid camera photo recognition. However, the Chinese version of Apple Intelligence will not be available until next year.
Shortly after the Apple launch event, Zhao Ming, CEO of Honor, posted on Weibo saying, "Apple and Honor are converging on the path of AI development. Competition in the user experience of AI services between us will win over more users and drive innovation in the industry. AIAgent will kick off a new wave of innovation in smartphones. The Honor Magic7 will be the first phone for Chinese consumers to experience AIAgent, and there's more exciting news to come."
The brilliance of Honor's AIAgent was already showcased at the recent IFA exhibition. Honor demonstrated the rich application scenarios of AIAgent in everyday life. On a confidential Honor Magic7, an IFA staff member, after activating YOYO, asked "Which apps are using auto-renewal?". YOYO took control of the phone, navigated through WeChat and Alipay, and displayed all apps with auto-renewal subscriptions, enabling the user to confirm and cancel them with a single click.
Honor's IFA showcase also included the "One-click beverage ordering" and "One-click travel planning and booking", all powered by AIAgent. AIAgent doesn't solely rely on data interaction at the backend, but embraces a human-machine interaction approach, mimicking human behavior, as if there's a virtual assistant operating the phone. Honor has opened a new track for AI on the mobile side through AIAgent, transforming phones into true AI assistants.
AIAgent's settings are user-friendly. Users can simply issue a verbal command, and AI will execute it. AI understands user intentions through simple voice, drag-and-drop icons, text, or images. Once this foundation is established, the rest can be addressed by the ecosystem.
In an interview at IFA, Honor's Zhao Ming confidently stated that AI will encompass various services, essentially not different from current apps. There will be a plethora of AI agents, and therefore the future challenge for smartphone brands will be to support this abundant variety of AI applications on their intelligent platforms. This is the direction Honor aims to pursue.
Beyond AIAgent, Honor and Apple share some similarities in their AI strategies, both actively embracing the entire ecosystem and adapting it to different regions. However, this requires extensive work for adaptation. Even a giant like Apple needs to roll out AI features in phases. The Chinese version will only be available in 2025.
It's foreseeable that with Apple and Honor leading the implementation of AIAgent technology, more smartphone manufacturers will join the race, making smartphone agents a future industry trend. Perhaps soon we'll have the opportunity to experience the AI capabilities of the Honor Magic7 series, the first phone with AIAgent, and witness its imaginative features. We eagerly await what's to come.
