Samsung today announced three new CMOS image sensors for mobile devices: ISOCELL GN8, GN9, and KD1. Each sensor focuses on different aspects, including pixel size, optical size, and video frame rate, aiming to deliver superior imaging experiences for mobile devices.

ISOCELL GN8 boasts an effective resolution of 8192x6144 (50MP) with a pixel size of 0.8m and a 1/1.95-inch optical size. This sensor supports video recording at up to 8K30fps, 4K120fps, and FHD240fps, capturing finer details and smoother motion.

ISOCELL GN9 features an effective resolution of 8160x6144 (50MP), with an upgraded pixel size of 1.0m and a 1/1.57-inch optical size. Compared to the GN8, the GN9 offers enhanced pixel size and optical size, resulting in improved image quality in low-light conditions. While video recording frame rates are slightly reduced, the maximum 4K60fps performance still satisfies the needs of most users.

ISOCELL KD1 is a 32MP sensor with an effective resolution of 6,560x4,928, a pixel size of 0.64m, and a 1/3.44-inch optical size. KD1 prioritizes high resolution and a compact size, making it ideal for ultra-thin smartphones and other mobile devices. Its maximum 8MP60fps video recording capability also fulfills everyday usage requirements.

These three newly released CMOS image sensors from Samsung will empower mobile devices with enhanced imaging capabilities, offering users a richer and more vibrant shooting experience. In the near future, smartphones equipped with these sensors are expected to spark a new trend in mobile imaging within the market.
