Tech media outlet MacRumors reports that Apple's iOS 18 Photos app will introduce a video speed control option, enabling users to adjust the playback frame rate after recording. This new feature will also apply to older iPhones. After upgrading to iOS 18 RC, users can slow down the playback speed of high frame rate videos, opting for options of 240, 120, 60, 48, 30, and 24 frames per second.
To use the new video speed control, users can simply open the video's edit interface and click the timer icon in the upper right corner. In the pop-up menu, users can select their desired frame rate option. For example, if a user wants to lower a video recorded at 240 frames per second to 60 frames per second, they can choose the "60 fps" option.
This new feature provides users with greater control over video playback speed, offering them more flexibility to adjust video playback speed according to their needs. Whether users want to slow down a video to better observe details or speed it up to save time, the new video speed control feature can meet their requirements.
The release date for iOS 18 has not yet been announced, but it is expected to be released later this fall.
