The final release of iOS 18 is rapidly approaching, with Apple announcing it will launch on September 16th alongside watchOS 11 and macOS 15. To coincide with this launch, Apple has now instructed developers to submit updated apps that support iOS 18 to the App Store, including those for Apple Watch and Mac.

This news follows closely on the heels of Apples Its Glowtime event this week. Shortly after the event concluded, Apple released candidate release versions of iOS 18, watchOS 11, macOS 15, and other updates to developers. Candidate release versions are the final updates provided to developers prior to the final release, giving them a chance to test and adjust their apps to accommodate the newest system versions before the official launch.

As iOS 18 brings a plethora of enhancements and changes for developers, including new APIs, AppleIntelligence related tools, and new home screen customization tools, developers can now begin submitting their updated apps to the App Store. In addition to updating existing apps, Apple also invites developers to submit their new apps to the App Store via a new page on the Apple Developer portal. The company encourages developers to "take advantage of the latest features on Apples platforms," encouraging them to leverage the various new features and tools offered by iOS 18.

New features in iOS 18 include:

• A redesigned Control Center page;

• The ability to change lock screen shortcuts;

• AppleIntelligence related tools that developers can utilize to enhance their app's functionalities and intelligence;

• The ability to double-tap the AP on the Apple Watch or provide live activities within the app.

Developers can now download the candidate release version of iOS 18 and begin testing their apps. Apple states that the final release will be available on September 16th next week, allowing users to experience the new features and improvements that iOS 18 brings on their compatible devices.
