Realme CEO, Xu Qi, has shared a new video on social media showcasing a Realme phone with a solid-state button, similar to the one rumored to be featured on the iPhone 16. Xu Qi revealed that Realme has been researching solid-state button technology for a while, allowing users to zoom by swiping the button and take pictures with a press.
It has been reported that the iPhone 16 series will also adopt a similar operation logic with the button. This button integrates pressure sensors and capacitive sensors, enabling it to recognize light presses, heavy presses, and swipes. It also provides haptic feedback. First and foremost, its a shutter button that supports multi-stage operations. A single press opens the camera, a light press focuses, a heavy press takes a picture, and a long press records video. In addition, swiping left and right on the button allows users to zoom. The TapticEngine's precise vibrations create the illusion of turning a dial. It's more of a scroll wheel than a button.
It's worth noting that, unlike other buttons on the iPhone, the camera control button is a highly integrated button. It combines the mobility of a mechanical structure with the controllability of a capacitive design. It also provides richer feedback through pressure sensitivity and vibration.
Furthermore, the Nubia Z70 Ultra and OPPO Find X8 series, both launching later this year, will feature dedicated camera buttons. Realme is expected to launch the Realme GT7 Pro later this year, which is also expected to be equipped with a similar button. We look forward to its release.
