Market research firm Omdia recently published the top 10 best-selling smartphones globally for the first half of 2024. Apple and Samsung continue to dominate, with only one Chinese brand, Xiaomi, making it to the top ten.

Data shows that Apple secured half the list with five of its models. The iPhone 15 Pro Max topped the chart with sales of 21.8 million units, while the standard iPhone 15 followed closely with 17.8 million units. Although the iPhone 14 Pro Max achieved a stronger performance last year with 26.5 million units sold in the same period, Apple's dominance in the high-end market remains unwavering.

Samsung follows closely with four top-selling products, with the Galaxy A15 surprisingly claiming the third spot with 17.3 million units sold, surpassing the iPhone 15 Pro and the company's own Galaxy S24 Ultra. The Galaxy A15's remarkable performance demonstrates Samsung's continuing strength in the mid-to-low-end market.

Xiaomi's Redmi 13C, with 11.8 million units sold, became the only Chinese smartphone to make the list, securing the eighth spot. This indicates Xiaomi's continued competitive edge. The Redmi 13C, with its affordable price and solid performance, has become a preferred choice for many consumers.

Furthermore, the stable sales of the iPhone 13 and iPhone 14 illustrate the ongoing user demand for Apple's older models. Samsung's Galaxy S24 Ultra, the only high-end Android smartphone on the list, also showcases the company's competitive prowess in the premium market.
