According to a report by market research firm Omdia, the iPhone 15 Pro Max became the world's best-selling smartphone in the first half of 2024, with shipments reaching 21.8 million units. This success continues the momentum of the iPhone 14 Pro Max in the first half of last year, although shipments were slightly lower than last years 26.5 million units. Notably, the iPhone 15 Pro Max's success wasn't a solo effort. Apple's iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Pro also claimed spots in the top five with shipments of 17.8 million and 16.9 million units, respectively.

Beyond Apples strong performance, Samsung held its own with its Galaxy A15 series and Galaxy S24 Ultra. The Galaxy A15 secured third place with 17.3 million shipments, while the Galaxy S24 Ultra landed in fifth place with 12.6 million units shipped. Additionally, the Redmi 13C and iPhone 14 also made it into the top ten, showcasing a competitive landscape across different price segments.

However, with the impending release of the iPhone 16 series, the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max have been removed from Apple's official website. This means consumers can only purchase these Pro models from authorized third-party retailers. Analysts suggest that Apple's move aims to create space for the launch and sales of the new iPhone 16 series.

Past experiences have shown that Apple often removes older models to concentrate resources on promoting new ones as new technologies are introduced and consumer anticipation builds.
