OPPO to Hold Off on Tri-Folding Phones: Find X8 Series to Be Core Focus, Company to Remain Centered on Smartphones

Recently, Liu Bo, President of OPPO China, stated during a communication session that despite having pre-researched tri-folding phone solutions, OPPO has yet to see strong consumer demand. As a result, the company has decided to temporarily hold off on releasing such products. This news confirms that OPPO will not be entering the tri-folding phone market in the short term.

In fact, OPPO had already unveiled a concept device, the X2021 with a rollable screen, back in 2020, showcasing its exploration in innovative phone form factors. This concept phone utilized a seamless OLED flexible rollable screen, enabled by OPPO's self-developed RollMotor powertrain and dual-matrix embedded clutch structure, achieving an almost "zero crease" screen effect. However, it ultimately failed to reach mass production.

Regarding future development, Liu Bo has made it clear that OPPO's core strategy is to focus on excelling in smartphones and their core peripherals, emphasizing their importance. While the company will not be venturing into the car manufacturing business, it will collaborate with car manufacturers to enhance the connectivity between smartphones and vehicles.

Find X8 Series to Be Core Focus, Dedicated to Smartphones

OPPO is set to unveil its new flagship phone series, the Find X8, next month. This series will include three models: standard, Pro, and Ultra editions. The Pro version will also feature a satellite communication variant. All models will be powered by the Dimensity 9400 chip and, compared to the previous generation Find X7 series, will boast a more compact design, smaller camera bumps, and a thinner and lighter profile, with the potential for improved battery life.

According to leaks, the Find X8 series will adopt a narrow-bezel centered punch-hole straight screen with a metal frame design. The side of the device will feature a separate non-protruding button, predicted to provide one-touch access to imaging functions, integrate multi-functional interactions, and offer enhanced control possibilities.

The entire series will support 80W fast charging, with battery capacity anticipated to exceed 5700mAh, reaching 6000mAh levels. The Ultra variant could even be upgraded to a massive 6500mAh or 7000mAh battery, although the specific details are still under wraps.

ColorOS 15 Upgrade: Smoother and More Powerful

OPPO officials have revealed that ColorOS 15 will bring several upgrades, including:

• Expanded Fluid Cloud application adaptation, adding support for Apple Music, blogging apps (currently announced app is "Xiao Yuzhou").

• New layered depth wallpapers, providing enhanced lock screen and unlock animation effects.

• Introducing a split control center, supporting real-time Gaussian blur.

• UI style changes, including swipe pagination for Xiao Bu suggestions on the desktop.

• Real-time application activity displayed in the front camera area. Rumors suggest that "Fluid Cloud has transitioned to a central dynamic island."
