China Becomes the Global Lowest Price Market for iPhone 16: Average Price is Over 1200 Yuan Lower than Global Average
Apple's latest iPhone 16 series has officially launched, but prices vary significantly across the globe. According to the latest data from Japan's MM Research Institute, China has the lowest Apple phone price globally, based on the 128GB iPhone 16.
The survey compared the prices of all four iPhone 16 models across Apple's online stores globally, ultimately comparing them in Japanese Yen. The results show that the global average price for the 128GB iPhone 16 is 147,026 Yen (approximately 7,219 Yuan), while the official Chinese price starts at 5,999 Yuan, which is over 1,200 Yuan lower than the average.
Besides the base iPhone 16, other models also have a significant price advantage in China. For example, the iPhone 16 Plus 256GB is priced at 154,800 Yen (approximately 7,601 Yuan) in Japan, the second lowest globally, while it is priced at 7,999 Yuan on the Chinese website. The iPhone 16 Pro 512GB and the most expensive iPhone 16 Pro Max 1TB are priced at 204,800 Yen (approximately 10,056 Yuan) and 249,800 Yen (approximately 12,265 Yuan) in Japan respectively, while they are priced at 10,999 Yuan and 13,999 Yuan in China respectively.
It is noteworthy that Japan, with a price of 124,800 Yen, follows Thailand to become the third lowest price market globally.
Furthermore, MM Research Institute also pointed out: "The higher the iPhone market share in a country, the lower the iPhone price tends to be as a percentage of average wages." This suggests that Apple may adjust prices based on market share and consumer purchasing power in different regions to ensure the product's competitiveness.
China being the lowest price market reflects Apple's emphasis on the Chinese market on the one hand, and reflects the strong demand for Apple products among Chinese consumers on the other hand. With the official launch of the iPhone 16 series, a new wave of consumer enthusiasm is expected to sweep across the Chinese market.
