Tech media outlet AndroidHeadline reported yesterday (October 1st) that OnePlus has been banned from selling its smartphones in Germany again, this time due to a patent dispute with InterDigital over 5G technology.
IT Home reported in January that OPPO and Nokia reached an agreement allowing OnePlus phones to return to the German market. The current ban involves patents related to InterDigital's 5G technology.
In an official statement, OnePlus said: OnePlus highly values intellectual property and fair access to standard-essential patents, which are critical for driving innovation in the industry. We will continue to engage with InterDigital with a goal of resolving this matter amicably. In the meantime, our commitment to Europe remains unchanged, and we will continue to provide our customers with high-quality products and services.
OnePlus and InterDigital are currently in negotiations to resolve the new dispute. The ban currently applies only to OnePlus smartphones. German consumers can still purchase OnePlusPad2, BudsPro3, and Watch2 through the companys official website.
