They have officially announced that the Snapdragon Summit 2024 will be held from October 22nd to 24th, Beijing time. The most anticipated event is the launch of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4, which Qualcomm considers a landmark product with significant upgrades, featuring a brand-new self-developed architecture and ultimately renamed "Snapdragon 8 Elite".
"Elite" signifies excellence and elitism, hinting at unprecedented performance and technological breakthroughs in this chipset. The official Chinese name has yet to be announced and will be revealed after the summit.
According to leaks, the Snapdragon 8 Elite adopts a 2+6 architecture design. The two ultra-large cores are clocked at 4.32GHz, while the six large cores run at 3.53GHz, a significant leap compared to the 3.3GHz of the previous generation Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. Additionally, Qualcomm has incorporated a new GPU frame interpolation technology into the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4, enabling game supersampling and frame interpolation simultaneously. This completely eliminates the need for external dedicated graphics chips, delivering a gaming experience comparable to native high frame rates.
From the current information, the Xiaomi 15 series will be the first to feature the Snapdragon 8 Elite and is expected to launch at the end of the month. This upgrade seems to be Qualcomm's intention to catapult the Snapdragon 8 series to new heights. We eagerly await the unveiling!
