Huawei Smartphone Sales Back to Peak in China: Surpassing Apple in August, Leading in Foldable Market
Market research firm CINNOResearch recently published a report stating that Huawei smartphone sales surpassed Apple in August in China, reclaiming the top spot after 46 months. This report, titled "Monthly Development Trends of the Smartphone Market," analyzes the sales, brand trends, and detailed data of leading smartphone brands in China's smartphone market in August.
The report shows that Huawei performed remarkably well in the high-end market and the foldable phone market. In the high-end market segment above 6,000 yuan, Huawei competed fiercely with Apple, eventually surpassing it thanks to the excellent performance of its Pura70 series and novaFlip series.
Huawei's novaFlip small foldable phone achieved impressive results. Within 72 hours of its launch, sales exceeded 45,000 units, an 85% increase compared to its predecessor, the PocketS. This indicates that consumer recognition and acceptance of Huawei's foldable phones continue to grow.
The report also analyzes the sales trends of brands like vivo, Xiaomi, Honor, OPPO, Apple, and realme. It points out that Huawei has been a leader in the foldable phone market, consistently holding over a third of the market share since 2020.
IDC's previous report also revealed Huawei's strong performance in China's smartphone market. Data shows that Huawei ranked second in the second quarter with a market share exceeding 50% year-on-year. In the first half of the year, it once again became the top smartphone vendor with a 17.5% market share.
Huawei's strong comeback is attributed to its continuous investment in product development, technological breakthroughs, and marketing. The new products launched by Huawei this year, including the Pura70 series and novaFlip series, not only boast powerful performance and innovative features but also cater to consumer demand for high-end phones. Furthermore, Huawei's technological accumulation and market layout in the foldable phone field have given it a first-mover advantage.
Huawei's return to the peak of smartphone sales not only reflects its own strength but also signifies a major shift in the landscape of China's smartphone market. With Huawei's strong comeback, the future of China's smartphone market will see even more intense competition.
