According to tech media outlet smartprix, Xiaomi will launch its first Redmi phone powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 4s Gen 2 chip at the 2024 International Mobile Communications Congress (IMC) on October 16th.
Qualcomm unveiled the Snapdragon 4s Gen 2 chip in July, aiming to popularize 5G networks and bring the price of 5G phones down to under $99 (approximately 701 yuan). The Snapdragon 4s Gen 2 chip supports Bluetooth 5.1 and Wi-Fi 5, and features the Qualcomm Kryo CPU with two 2GHz performance cores and six 1.8GHz efficiency cores.
Recent reports suggest that the upcoming Redmi phone will likely sport a 6.7-inch LCD display with a 90Hz refresh rate and HD+ resolution. It may also feature a 50MP main camera, an 8MP selfie camera, a 5000mAh battery with 18W charging, and run on Android 14 with MIUI.
Of course, the biggest highlight of this phone will be the Snapdragon 4s Gen 2 chip. This chip offers faster network speeds and a lower price point, making it a great option for users who want to experience 5G but are on a tight budget.
The Redmi phone is expected to be officially unveiled at the IMC on October 16th. Let's wait and see what it brings to the table.
