Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy: Powered by TSMC 3nm, Performance Gets a Breakthrough
Go Blue V, product manager at iQOO, recently stated that the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy is a powerful beast. He mentioned that previously demanding games now run smoothly on his phone, and he will share detailed experiences after Qualcomm's launch event. Earlier, blogger Digital Chat Station also conducted a preliminary test on the mass-produced Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy, commenting: "Solid performance, you can safely consider the first batch."
The Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy is built with TSMC's latest 3nm process, marking another instance of Qualcomm consistently choosing TSMC for manufacturing. TSMC's advanced process technology has consistently been praised for its energy efficiency. Taking the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 and Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 as examples, the former was manufactured by Samsung, while the latter was manufactured by TSMC. Both share the same CPU microarchitecture, consisting of 4 A510 + 3 A710 + 1 X2 cores. However, the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 boosted the frequency of all three core types, resulting in significant performance improvements.
Test results revealed that the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 manufactured by TSMC boasts a 34% improvement in energy efficiency, demonstrating significantly better power control compared to the Samsung-manufactured Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. This effectively dispels the "fire dragon" stigma previously associated with Samsung's manufacturing. With Qualcomm once again choosing TSMC for the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy, its performance is highly anticipated.
Beyond the benefits of TSMC's advanced process technology, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy also features significant CPU architecture upgrades. It utilizes the self-developed Oryon core, comprising 2 super-large cores and 6 large cores. The super-large core's clock speed surpasses 4GHz, delivering powerful performance.
The Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy will be officially launched on October 22nd, marking the beginning of a new wave of mobile chip performance competition. This chip, equipped with TSMC's 3nm process and the self-developed Oryon core, promises groundbreaking advancements in performance and energy efficiency. Let's wait and see what it brings.
