Renowned leaker Sonny Dickson recently shared a photo of what is allegedly a case for the fourth-generation iPhone SE, hinting at a potential early 2025 release for the highly anticipated model.

The image reveals that the case for the new iPhone SE features a cutout on the back for a single camera lens and flash, consistent with the design of the current third-generation iPhone SE released in 2022. Similarly, the opening for the mute switch is also consistent with the current model's design, and the side-mounted volume buttons and power button protrusions are similar in proportion to the previous generation.

However, this similarity doesn't imply a lack of change. The next-generation iPhone SE is rumored to be based on the iPhone 14's body design, featuring a larger footprint than previous models. It is rumored to sport a 6.1-inch OLED display, a significant upgrade from the current model's 5.45-inch display and LED backlight panel.

While Dickson's leaked case photo shows the same rear camera cutout as the 2022 iPhone SE, the device is expected to feature a 48MP camera similar to the iPhone 15. Additionally, the front camera is anticipated to receive an upgrade to a 12MP sensor and include the Dynamic Island feature.

Reports also suggest that the next iPhone SE will ditch Touch ID in favor of Face ID and replace the Lightning port with USB-C. The shift to Face ID would likely mean the iPhone SE 4th Gen will incorporate a notch and at least partially, if not fully, support the Dynamic Island feature.

It's also worth noting that reports claim the next iPhone SE will support Apple Intelligence, hinting at an A18 chip and 8GB of RAM.

The exact release date for the new iPhone SE remains unclear, but based on traditional timelines and iPhone SE history, a spring 2025 launch is expected. If these reports prove to be wholly or mostly accurate, Apple will likely discontinue the iPhone 14 when the fourth-generation iPhone SE launches, as the two models will share significant similarities. It's unclear whether the iPhone 14 Plus, which remains on sale, will also be discontinued.
