On October 14th, vivo officially launched its annual flagship, the X200 series, at the Water Cube in Beijing. This series includes three models: vivo X200, vivo X200 Pro, and vivo X200 Pro mini. As a benchmark for vivo's flagship devices, the X200 series boasts numerous highlights, with the most attention-grabbing being the global debut of the MediaTek Dimensity 9400 chip platform. Combined with vivo's self-developed V3+ imaging chip, 6000mAh Blue Ocean battery, micro-curved screen, and the brand-new OriginOS5, the X200 series has emerged as a truly all-around flagship in terms of performance, battery life, and AI experience.

Peak Performance, Enhanced Energy Efficiency

The previous generation vivo X100 series, powered by the all-large-core Dimensity 9300, already reigned supreme in performance. This time, MediaTek and vivo collaborated to introduce the Dimensity 9400, featuring the "second-generation all-large-core" architecture. This chip boasts one Cortex-X925 super-large core, 3 Cortex-X4 super-large cores, and 4 Cortex-A7 series (A720) large cores.

Benchmark results reveal that the vivo X200 series, powered by the Dimensity 9400, achieved an AnTuTu score of 2.82 million, easily placing it in a league of its own among smartphones. This score represents a more than 30% improvement compared to the previous generation's score of 2.2 million. In daily performance-intensive gaming scenarios, under a room temperature of 25, the X200 series ran "Peace Elite" (highest frame rate, HDR) and "Genshin Impact" (highest frame rate and graphics settings) for approximately 30 minutes. The average frame rates achieved were 89.3 frames and 60.3 frames respectively, both leading the industry. The overall frame rate performance closely resembled a straight line.

Furthermore, thanks to the Dimensity 9400's TSMC second-generation 3nm process, the relatively conservative clock speed of up to 3.62GHz, and the X200 series' system optimization mechanism, the device achieved an average power consumption of 3.5W and 4.0W in these two game tests, demonstrating remarkable energy efficiency. Notably, in the more demanding "Genshin Impact", the X200's exceptional scheduling strategy allowed the Dimensity 9400 to unleash its full potential while maintaining excellent overall power consumption and temperature control.

Coupled with a maximum battery capacity of 6000mAh, the X200 series showcases top-tier battery life among its peers in our test usage, significantly extending phone usage time and effectively alleviating users' battery anxiety. Based on actual performance, gaming, and battery life tests, the Dimensity 9400-powered X200 series demonstrates both peak performance and effective mitigation of overheating and battery life concerns, achieving an optimal balance between performance and user experience. It confidently sets a new standard for all-around flagship devices.

Generative AI Applications: A New Evolution

Last year's vivo X100 series, powered by the Dimensity 9300, introduced the AI Blue Heart large model, enabling AI application experiences in semantic search, Q&A, writing, and image creation, unlocking the door to AI-powered phones. This year, the X200 series, leveraging the powerful AI computing capabilities of the Dimensity 9400 and combining the functional innovations of the new OriginOS5, takes AI to a whole new level.

The X200 series introduces an evolution of the "Atomic Island," allowing users to transfer information from the current page to other software and automatically generate tasks. For example, if a user long-presses and selects a meeting information message from a friend in a chat application, the device's on-device AI can automatically identify and provide the corresponding software entry by dragging the message to "Atomic Island." Dragging it into "Schedule" will automatically create a new schedule event, significantly boosting work efficiency. For location-based information, users can directly drag it to the map application for immediate navigation.

The entire Atomic Island operation process is based on a drag-and-drop action and on-device AI, eliminating the need for manual copy-pasting of desired meeting information from chat content, opening the schedule application, and then manually creating and inputting the relevant meeting information. Additionally, the X200 series features convenient and practical AI-powered features such as Small V Circle Search, Blue Heart Small V, and AI ID Photo Background Replacement, integrated seamlessly into different application scenarios. These enhanced experiences are all powered by the Dimensity 9400's strong AI computing capabilities.

The Dimensity 9400 integrates MediaTek's 8th-generation AI processor NPU890, delivering exceptional AI performance and propelling the X200 series to the top spot on the ETHZAI performance rankings. This achievement signifies an even superior AI experience for the device. The chip introduces the Dimensity AI Intelligent Synthesis Engine, supporting on-device LoRA training, on-device high-quality video generation, time-domain tensor hardware acceleration technology, and DiffusionTransformer technology.
