Financial Associated Press has learned that the annual flagship battle in the smartphone industry has begun. Besides Huawei, leading brands like vivo, OPPO, and Honor have all announced their new flagship phones in October. Earlier, reporters confirmed that the Huawei Mate70 series of smartphones has entered mass production and is expected to officially launch in November this year.

I. Huawei's smartphone shipment growth leads the industry

On August 29, 2023, Huawei launched the Mate60 Pro Pioneer Plan, announcing the return of its smartphone business. Subsequently, Huawei continued to release new models in the MateX5, Nova12, and Pura70 series. According to IDC data, Huawei regained its position as the top smartphone manufacturer in China during the first half of 2024, securing a 17.5% market share. Specifically, its smartphone shipments saw a year-on-year increase of 110.0% in the first quarter and 50.2% in the second quarter, representing the fastest growth in the industry.

DB Securities indicates that Huawei released the PanGu large language model 5.0 in June 2024, with upgrades in comprehensive coverage, multimodality, and strong reasoning capabilities. With the integration of the large language model and HarmonyOS NEXT, the new devices are expected to achieve more powerful AI functions. Looking ahead to the upcoming new phone releases, Huawei is expected to further enhance its self-developed SOC, HarmonyOS operating system, and AI large language models. Open Source Securities anticipates that Huawei's smartphone shipments could reach 80-90 million units by 2025, driven by supply chain stabilization, research and development breakthroughs, and the arrival of HarmonyOS NEXT.
