Qualcomm will host the 2024 Snapdragon Summit in Maui, Hawaii, from October 21 to 23. According to recent reports, TM Roh, President of Mobile eXperience at Samsung, will attend the event and engage in in-depth discussions about collaborative efforts between Samsung and Qualcomm with the Qualcomm leadership.

South Korean media outlet hankyung reported that Roh is confirmed to travel to Hawaii next week for the Snapdragon Summit. He is expected to discuss the chipset for the Galaxy S25 series and the company's XR headset initiatives with Qualcomm and Google.

Snapdragon 8 Gen4 Chip Price May Take Center Stage

A key focus of the summit will be the upcoming Snapdragon 8 Gen4 chipset. This chipset is expected to power the Galaxy S25 series, with the Galaxy S25 Ultra confirmed to feature the Snapdragon 8 Gen4 for Galaxy chip. The chipsets for the Galaxy S25 and Galaxy S25+ are still uncertain, with three possibilities:

1. All models equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Gen4 for Galaxy chip;

2. Galaxy S25 Ultra using Snapdragon while the S25/S25+ use the Exynos 2500 chip;

3. Galaxy S25 Ultra using Snapdragon while the S25/S25+ use the MediaTek Dimensity 9400 chip.

Reports indicate that Roh will negotiate the price of the Snapdragon 8 Gen4 chip for the Galaxy S25 series with Qualcomm. Additionally, he will likely analyze the sales performance of the Galaxy S24 in markets like the US.

XR Headset Collaboration to Be Another Key Agenda

Besides the Galaxy S25 series chipset, another significant objective of Roh's trip is to engage with Qualcomm executives on the future of mixed reality (XR). Samsung announced its collaboration with Qualcomm and Google at the beginning of 2023 to develop a new XR headset platform. At the 2023 Galaxy Unpacked event, the three companies committed to "building the next generation of XR experiences."

Samsung might reveal more details about its XR headset at this year's Snapdragon Summit and possibly disclose future development plans.
