On October 23rd, realme, renowned for its innovative dual-screen technology and record-breaking screen brightness, held a screen technology briefing to unveil the Eco Sky Screen, marking a new milestone in eye protection. Co-developed by realme and Samsung, the Eco Sky Screen aims to be the best in three crucial aspects within the sub-$1,000 price range: color, power consumption, and eye protection.

In terms of color, the Eco Sky Screen utilizes a customized Samsung S2 flexible display, achieving a wide color gamut of 120% DCI-P3, surpassing even the iMac and showcasing richer colors than most flagship smartphones. The screen boasts a peak brightness of 2000nit, reaching 2206nit in realme's testing, ensuring clarity, transparency, and detail even under strong lighting conditions.

Regarding power consumption, the Eco Sky Screen achieves a reduction of up to 52% compared to conventional screens. Realme's test results show that at 500nit brightness and full frame rate, the Eco Sky Screen draws only 272mA, 200mA lower than competitor screens.

The Eco Sky Screen's outstanding energy efficiency is attributed to two groundbreaking low-power consumption technologies: EcoOLEDPlus and 8TLTPO. EcoOLEDPlus revolutionizes OLED screen design by eliminating the polarizer. Samsung introduced polarizer-free technology into its foldable phones in 2021, and several flagship foldable phones have adopted this technology. However, the realme GT7 Pro is the first global smartphone to feature a polarizer-free screen in a straight-screen design.

Eliminating the polarizer not only enhances brightness and reduces power consumption at the same brightness level but also significantly improves eye protection. Traditional linear polarization technology produces light with a single angle, potentially causing eye strain. The polarizer-free technology simulates natural light, achieving a 0 degree polarization, restoring the natural light's uniform diffusion feature and reducing eye strain.

Furthermore, the Eco Sky Screen integrates a new hardware-level DC dimming technology. Traditional OLED screens with PWM dimming can cause eye fatigue due to flickering. realme's full-brightness DC dimming technology only flickers once per frame, offering superior eye protection and further reducing power consumption. Through enhanced TFT process stability and optimized Demura algorithm, Eco significantly improves color consistency and accuracy in full-brightness DC dimming mode, eliminating the need for users to choose between eye protection and display quality.

With the increasing prevalence of 2K120Hz screens, discussions around screen resolution and refresh rate primarily revolve around new iPhone releases. Android manufacturers and consumers prioritize screen brightness, eye protection, and other parameters. By adopting polarizer-free technology, the realme GT7 Pro's Eco Sky Screen delivers significant eye protection improvement.
