Apple VisionPro Headset's Visitor Mode Gets an Upgrade: iPhone Control Via LiveActivity
IT Home, October 24th: Tech media outlet AppleInsider published a blog post yesterday (October 23rd) revealing a new feature discovered in the first beta version of iOS 18.2. It allows VisionPro headset owners to control Visitor Mode from their iPhones using LiveActivity sessions.
Currently, VisionPro users can only set up Visitor Mode within the headset itself. Once activated, the chosen display device (like an iPhone) loses control. However, this limitation is about to be lifted. Code in the iOS 18.2 Beta1 update shows that VisionPro owners will soon be able to use LiveActivity sessions on their iPhone to manage Visitor Mode, selecting which apps are accessible to visitors.
This system works similarly to the handoff feature. The code suggests it won't be a standalone app but rather a UI layer added to the lock screen or Dynamic Island for control.
This new feature will bring greater convenience to VisionPro users. They'll be able to easily manage Visitor Mode from their iPhones, eliminating the need for cumbersome in-headset adjustments. Additionally, users can now more flexibly control visitor permissions, ensuring only specified apps are accessible.
It's important to note that this feature is still in testing, and the final implementation and features may differ. However, it's clear that Apple is continuously refining the VisionPro headset experience, aiming for a more convenient and secure user experience.
