Dutch tech media GalaxyClub recently published a blog post revealing the camera specs of Samsung's upcoming Galaxy A56 phone. This new device, slated for a Spring 2025 release, is expected to bring a plethora of upgrades, including performance and camera capabilities.
The Galaxy A56 will feature a 50MP main camera, a 12MP ultrawide lens, and a 5MP macro lens, resulting in enhanced photography capabilities. Notably, the phone will upgrade its front camera, ditching the 32MP sensor used since 2020 in favour of a new 12MP lens. It remains unclear whether this new front camera will be the same one found on the Galaxy S series.
Besides camera enhancements, the Galaxy A56 will benefit from the same update policy as the Galaxy A16, promising six years of system updates and six major Android upgrades. This means users can enjoy the latest features and security patches for a longer period, elevating their user experience.
Performance-wise, the Galaxy A56 will be powered by the Exynos 1580 chip. The biggest upgrade with this chip is its tri-cluster CPU, featuring one 2.9GHz Cortex-A720 core, three 2.6GHz A720 cores, and four 1.95GHz smaller A520 cores. Compared to the four Cortex-A78 cores and four Cortex-A55 cores found in the previous Exynos 1480, the Exynos 1580 provides a significant performance boost.
The Exynos 1580 chip is built on a 4nm FinFET process and integrates an NPU boasting 14.7TOPS of computing power, a slight improvement over the Exynos 1480.
Overall, the Galaxy A56 exhibits promising upgrades in performance, camera, and software update policy. This new phone is expected to be one of the most noteworthy mid-range models in Spring 2025.
