Honor Magic7 Series: AI Phone Enters the "Autonomous Driving" Era, Honor Magic7RSR Porsche Design Edition Coming Soon
2024 has been hailed as the year of AI hardware, where the integration of traditional hardware like AIPC and AI glasses with large models has spawned new development paths. Consumers are increasingly looking forward to AI hardware that acts as a "personal butler," and smartphones have naturally become the hottest category in AI hardware. Earlier this year, Honor established a benchmark for the AI phone market with the Magic6 series, featuring MagicOS 8.0. The arrival of numerous AI functions, such as the "Any Door" and YOYO Assistant, showcased the potential of combining large models with smartphone hardware. Now, Honor presents the next generation of flagship smartphones the Magic7 series, poised to usher in the "autonomous driving" era for AI phones.
On October 30th, Honor hosted the Magic7 series flagship product launch event at the Shenzhen International Convention and Exhibition Center, unveiling the Magic7 and Magic7 Pro, the first phones to pre-load MagicOS 9.0.
Magic7: Exclusive New Color, Hardware Benchmarks "Ultra-Large Cup"
The standard version of the Magic7 series is built entirely with a "Pro" mindset, with Honor maximizing performance, screen, and peripheral configuration to satisfy consumers' desire for both. To highlight the Magic7's standing, Honor differentiated its design and color scheme, appointing renowned actress Zhu Zhu as its Art and Aesthetics Ambassador.
The Magic7 maintains the design of its predecessor, but boasts a more rigid mid-frame and a slightly smaller Deco size for the rear-mounted camera module. In terms of color, the Magic7 offers a range of options including Snow White, Sky Blue, Velvet Black, and Moonlight Grey, but it also boasts the exclusive "Dawn Gold" color, a unique blend of orange gold, white, and red hues that creates a dynamic visual effect in sunlight.
The most significant difference in the standard Magic7 lies in its screen form factor. The Honor Magic7 finally returns to a flat-panel design. The screen measures 6.78 inches with a 1.5K resolution, and the entire series features the Global All-Weather AI Eye Protection Oasis Screen. The Magic7 series display panel also employs hardware-level circularly polarized light eye protection technology, enhancing eye protection across a wide viewing angle.
The entire Magic7 series is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy mobile platform. This SoC is manufactured using TSMC's second-generation 3nm process and adopts a PC-level dual-large-core architecture. The two newly developed Qualcomm second-generation Oryon cores boast a 4.32GHz clock speed, coupled with six performance cores clocked at 3.53GHz. Both single-core and multi-core performance far surpass the previous generation. Additionally, Honor's self-developed ultra-wide VC cooling system plays a significant role in boosting performance in extreme scenarios.
Image enhancements are relatively straightforward. In terms of hardware, the Magic7 adheres to the triple camera setup of a wide-angle lens, a telephoto lens, and an ultrawide-angle lens. The main camera features the same H9000 sensor as its predecessor, a slight upgrade of the OV50H; the ultrawide-angle lens boasts 50 million pixels and supports high-definition macro photography; and the telephoto lens has been upgraded to the LYT-600 in this generation, employing a periscope design with OIS optical image stabilization.
Moreover, the previously praised "Elegance Portrait" mode also makes its debut on this generation of Magic series devices, with enhanced portrait algorithms for more refined processing of light and shadow and facial textures. The new AI telephoto algorithm enhances the capabilities of the new LYT-600 periscope telephoto lens, enabling approximately 20x hybrid zoom, delivering clearer and sharper image results.
The entire Magic7 series comes standard with 3D ultrasonic fingerprint recognition, IP68/IP69 dust and water resistance, 100W super fast charging + 80W wireless fast charging, the new generation Qinghai Lake battery, symmetrical dual speakers, etc.
In terms of pricing, the Magic7 pricing aligns with market expectations:
- 12GB+256GB: 4499 yuan
- 12GB+512GB: 4799 yuan
- 16GB+512GB: 4999 yuan
- 16GB+1TB: 5499 yuan
Magic7 Pro: Design, Imaging, and Battery Life Upgrades
The Magic7 Pro focuses on enhancements in design, imaging, and battery life. The Magic7 Pro retains the core design of its predecessor, the Magic6 Pro, including the well-received depth-adjustable curved screen. The same Global All-Weather AI Eye Protection Oasis Screen from the standard version is also included. However, the most noticeable difference from the standard version is the switch from a single-hole camera arrangement to a pill-shaped camera cut-out on the front. A 3D facial recognition module is positioned next to the camera, enabling contactless control and gaze detection.
The Magic7 Pro is currently the first Android phone on the market to feature both 3D ultrasonic fingerprint recognition and 3D facial recognition. Regardless of your preference for fingerprint unlocking or face unlocking, you can enjoy reliable and payment-level unlocking experiences.
In terms of imaging, the Magic7 Pro still utilizes the triple camera combination of wide-angle, telephoto, and ultrawide-angle lenses. The main camera employs the same H9000 sensor as its predecessor, while the periscope telephoto lens utilizes a custom 200-megapixel sensor, boasting a massive 1/1.4-inch sensor, F2.6 aperture, and support for super dynamic Hawkeye capture and telephoto macro photography.
Honor has deeply integrated its "Light and Shadow Portrait" large model and "Capture Enhancement" large model, creating a brand new "AI Light Control Engine." The Magic7 series will benefit from more powerful light and shadow processing capabilities, offering more refined optimizations for night portraits and enhanced capture capabilities.
Thanks to the AI Light Control Engine and the new ultrawide telephoto lens, the Magic7 Pro also introduces the first AI Ultra-Clear Portrait, which delivers better facial skin tone restoration and enhanced clarity at 6x zoom levels. "Stage Mode" has finally been integrated into Honor's imaging large model.
In terms of performance, the entire Magic7 series comes standard with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy, providing impressive smoothness and performance. The Magic7 series leverages the power of the Vulkan graphics engine and the AI predictive scheduling engine to significantly enhance the image loading speed of the system.
Thanks to the built-in 5850mAh third-generation Qinghai Lake battery, the Magic7 Pro offers extended battery life compared to its predecessor.
The Magic7 Pro also introduces a hardware upgrade that's often overlooked in the smartphone market speakers. The Honor Magic7 Pro debuts with Honor Surround Bass Sound, utilizing a monolithic, oversized sound cavity system with a 10x larger sound cavity volume, resulting in ultra-large-amplitude dual speakers and the self-developed spatial audio engine, delivering outstanding external audio performance.
Overall, the Magic7 Pro can be considered the most "well-rounded" Pro-level flagship this year, offering a truly high-quality experience. Pricing for the Magic7 Pro is as follows:
- 12GB+256GB: 5699 yuan
- 16GB+512GB: 6199 yuan
- 16GB+1TB: 6699 yuan
