Honor Magic7 Series YOYO AI Agent: Phone "Autonomous Driving" Era Arriving?
During yesterday's launch event, Honor CEO Zhao Ming gave a command to the new YOYO assistant on his phone: "Order 2,000 drinks for me, something suitable for now." He then successfully placed an order for 2,000 cups of coffee through his phone, which were given to the audience. This "autonomous driving" style phone feature has sparked widespread discussion.
The Honor Magic7 series is the first to feature the YOYO AI agent, which can interact within its own apps and also coordinate interactions with third-party apps. Based on AI visual operation, YOYO doesn't require third-party adaptation. The "one-sentence food ordering" feature demonstrated at the launch event involves YOYO first using an on-device model for semantic understanding of the instruction and then using simulated clicks and other operations to place the food order. Users don't need to specify the specific implementation path for the task, which is a significant improvement compared to the previous scenario where users had to manually break down the task and gradually guide the AI to complete it.
However, the ordering of 2,000 cups of coffee at the Honor Magic7 series launch event was actually achieved through a beta device using automatic password-free payment functionality to place orders in a loop. Normal commercial devices, in order to avoid accidental operation, will have users take over the payment process, preventing repeated orders, and the maximum order quantity per order will not exceed the platform limit. This means that the phone system version shown at the launch event is different from the version consumers will be able to purchase, and normal commercial devices may not be able to automatically order 2,000 drinks like they did at the launch event. The interactive experience may not meet expectations.
Some users who have received the new Honor phone said that "YOYO's food ordering function only supports Meituan, and most products can only reach the browsing page." Customer service responded that the YOYO assistant's magic commands can currently only be used to order drinks (coffee, milk tea) from the Meituan app. For example, if you tell the YOYO assistant "Order me a cup of Luckin coffee, hot latte," or "Order a cup of Starbucks coffee, extra large with ice," you will need to manually confirm the specifications if the drink specifications are unclear. It is recommended that you clearly tell the YOYO assistant the brand, size, temperature, sweetness, etc., of the drink. The function currently doesn't support other apps like Ele.me. Regarding the "Cancel app auto-renewal" operation supported in the promotional video, customer service said there is no relevant data information.
In addition to ordering drinks, the YOYO assistant's magic commands also support sending local documents on WeChat, managing app permissions with one sentence, managing app notifications with one sentence, automatic app renewal management, and other operations. More magic commands will be supported in the future. It's worth noting that the annotations on the Honor Magic7 series introduction page indicate that some new features of YOYO are supported through OTA upgrades, and actual experience may vary.
Just recently, on October 25, Zhipu released a similar AI assistant tool called AutoGLM. On your phone, AutoGLM only needs to receive simple text or voice instructions to understand the user's intent and then mimic humans in planning tasks, using tools, and executing tasks using software. Similar to the YOYO assistant magic commands, users don't need to explicitly define the specific implementation path for tasks in this process, but ultimately the decision-making power lies with the user.
Fang Jing, an analyst at Minsheng Securities, believes that as Android AIOS improves, on-device AI agents will ultimately be able to independently plan tasks and choose execution tools/software. Phones will become intelligent car "autonomous driving" mode, and AI autonomous driving moments are expected to arrive soon. Guotai Junan's research report states that AIAgent will enable "autonomous driving" for smartphones. It is expected to improve the phone user experience with smooth cross-app operations, meet users' needs for office work, life, entertainment, and other aspects, drive a new round of phone upgrades, and drive demand in the upstream industry chain.
The launch of the Honor Magic7 Series YOYO AI agent marks the arrival of the phone "autonomous driving" era. In the future, with the continuous development of AI technology, phones will become more intelligent, and user experience will be further enhanced. However, it's clear that the YOYO AI agent is still in its early stages of development, and there's still room for improvement in functionality and experience. We look forward to seeing more mature AI phone assistants in the future, bringing more convenience to our lives.
