Since 2023, the Mobile Intelligent Terminal Ecosystem Alliance (MITEA) has been actively promoting the adaptation of application software to 64-bit architecture. In May of this year, they issued a notice titled "Announcement on 64-bit Adaptation Progress and Unadapted Application List," declaring that starting in 2023, Arm architecture CPU cores will mandatorily adopt 64-bit, gradually phasing out 32-bit instructions. This move aims to enhance system performance and security capabilities, but it also leads to some 32-bit application software being unable to run properly on the latest devices, affecting user experience.

To address this issue, MITEA members, including OPPO, vivo, and Xiaomi, have jointly initiated a campaign. In July, they released the "July 64-bit Adaptation Progress and Unadapted Application List," revealing that the overall adaptation rate across four software stores has reached over 99.1%.

The latest "October 64-bit Adaptation Progress and Unadapted Application List" indicates that as of October 25, 2024, the overall adaptation rate across four software stores has surpassed 99.6%. However, more than 3,700 key applications (99% unavailable in stores) that impact daily user experience remain unadapted to 64-bit, with a decrease of over 200 compared to the previous month.

To accelerate the adaptation process, MITEA has introduced the "Gold Standard Certification" for applications. This certification aims to identify applications that reach industry-leading standards in terms of stability, compatibility, performance, power consumption, security, and privacy. These applications will be promoted to users in app marketplaces of brands like Xiaomi, OPPO, and vivo, enhancing application service quality and fostering user trust and recognition.

It is reported that applications that pass the Gold Standard Certification will receive priority promotions in app stores, gaining wider exposure and traffic. They will prioritize receiving support for system service capabilities, enabling them to adapt to new system performance enhancements. Furthermore, they will have priority in participating in ecological construction and playing a significant role.

 Mobile Intelligent Terminal Ecosystem Alliance

The Mobile Intelligent Terminal Ecosystem Alliance aims to build a software ecosystem platform and technical standards for intelligent terminals. Its objective is to promote the software ecosystem research, development, design, integration, and service levels of its member companies. By doing so, the Alliance explores and constructs the next generation of software ecosystems for the intelligent terminal industry.

Despite remarkable progress in 64-bit adaptation, some applications are still unadapted. The Alliance will continue to push this adaptation work to ensure users can seamlessly access and use various applications on the latest devices.
