This year's iPhone 16 series, compared to the previous generation, offers upgrades that are underwhelming for most users. Apple has been aggressively buying trending topics on its official WeChat and Weibo accounts, "calling" its old iPhone users to switch to the new iPhone 16 series. The new iPhone 16 lineup features slight improvements in hardware aspects like camera, display, and processor. Notably, all iPhone 16 models come equipped with 8GB of RAM, and a new "Photo Control" button has been added, which the company claims is preparation for the arrival of AI.
The iPhone 16/Plus, compared to the previous generation, retains the same 6.1/6.7-inch screen size, still featuring a 60Hz refresh rate, a constant for years. It's powered by the new A18 processor, and the back camera Deco has been rearranged vertically. The new models offer five color options.
The iPhone 16 Pro/Max boasts a few more changes. The screen adopts a new size standard, coming in at 6.3/6.9 inches, making the bezels slightly narrower compared to the previous generation, and a tiny increase in display area. It is powered by the more powerful A18 Pro chip, and the wide-angle lens has been upgraded to 48MP, working together with the new "Photo Control" button to enable 4K120fps video recording. Additionally, this generation of iPhones sees significant improvements in cooling and battery life.
Unfortunately, Apple failed to keep up with the "trend" at the new phone's launch. Apple's own "Apple Intelligence" AI won't be available in China until next year, significantly dampening consumers' desire to upgrade.
Old iPhone users, are you going to buy the iPhone 16 this year?
