Honor CEO Zhao Ming: Amidst Rising Phone Prices, We Stick to No Price Increase, Focused Solely on Delivering Great Products
At the recent launch event for the Honor Magic7 series, Honor CEO Zhao Ming made a strong statement regarding the rising trend of smartphone prices. He declared that Honor will maintain its current pricing, prioritizing the creation of excellent products.
"We're sticking to our path, and consumers will undoubtedly witness all our efforts," Zhao Ming stated. This message conveys Honor's confidence in the quality of its products and its dedication to prioritizing consumer feedback. In the current market landscape where widespread price hikes and spec downgrades are prevalent, Honor's decision to resist price increases is undeniably a bold move.
Previously, Zhao Ming had addressed the difficulties posed by rising costs in the smartphone industry's upstream supply chain. He asserted that manufacturers should not burden consumers with these costs but instead strive for equilibrium in product pricing and specifications. "The pressure is on us, and it needs to be borne, but the pressure on consumers is even greater," he emphasized.
The pricing of the Honor Magic7 series serves as a testament to Zhao Ming's words. Despite enhancements, the Honor Magic7 saw a mere 100 yuan increase compared to its predecessor, starting at 4499 yuan. The Honor Magic7 Pro, building upon the standard version, further advanced its screen design, 3D facial recognition, and communication capabilities, yet its starting price remained identical to its predecessor at 5699 yuan.
Entering 2024, "price hikes" have become a common theme among domestic flagship smartphones. At least seven recently launched domestic flagship models have witnessed price increases. Notably, the Realme GT7 Pro starts at 3599 yuan, with its highest trim reaching 6799 yuan. The iQOO 13 is priced between 3999 and 5199 yuan, OnePlus 13 between 4499 and 5999 yuan, Vivo X200 series between 4299 and 6799 yuan, Xiaomi 15 series between 4499 and 6499 yuan, OPPO Find X8 series between 4199 and 6799 yuan, and the Honor Magic7 series between 4499 and 6699 yuan.
It's noteworthy that the Vivo X200 series and OPPO Find X8 series saw starting price increases of 300 yuan and 200 yuan, respectively. The Xiaomi 15 series experienced the most significant price jump, with a maximum increase of 300 yuan and a direct 500 yuan hike in its starting price.
In the face of this industry-wide trend toward price increases, Honor has chosen to swim against the current, sticking to its original pricing. This decision reflects its confidence in its brand and products. Honor's approach not only demonstrates its commitment to consumer interests but also highlights its fearless spirit of innovation and resilience in a competitive market.
Time will tell whether Honor's strategy of resisting price increases will resonate with consumers and propel its success in the future.
