Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy Outperforms MediaTek Dimensity 9400 in Shipments, Xiaomi 15 Series Emerges as Sales Leader
From both brand and consumer perspectives, Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy has proven more popular than MediaTek Dimensity 9400 this year. Despite the impressive performance of Dimensity 9400, its market position remains significantly behind Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy. This data comes from industry insider Wisdom Chip Guide, who has compiled shipment comparisons between Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy and Dimensity 9400 devices up to week 44.
The data reveals that currently, there are five models equipped with MediaTek Dimensity 9400: three from the vivo X200 series and two from the OPPO Find X8 series. Meanwhile, there are four models powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy, including two from the Xiaomi 15 series, OnePlus 13, and iQOO 13 (referring only to commercially available models). Despite the Dimensity 9400 models having been on sale for three weeks and the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy models for just one, the former's five devices still lag behind the latter's four in terms of shipments. Notably, the Dimensity 9400 devices also occupied a two-week gap in releases.
The primary reason for this outcome is the strong sales of the Xiaomi 15 series. According to official information, the Xiaomi 15 series has surpassed 1 million units in overall sales, and the shipment figure would be even higher. Previously, the Xiaomi 14 series achieved impressive sales at launch by being the first to feature Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. Currently, Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy devices are released around the same time, but the Xiaomi 15 series maintains its lead, indicating that the "launch advantage" is not the decisive factor.
Based on this data, we can conclude that the Xiaomi 15 series outsells both the vivo X200 series and the OPPO Find X8 series. In the future, with the impending release of flagship devices like the Honor Magic7 series and Redmi K80 Pro, all powered by Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy, the lead of Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy devices is expected to widen further. The next device featuring the MediaTek Dimensity 9400 platform is likely to be the iQOO Neo series.
It is worth noting that the Xiaomi 15 series maintains strong selling momentum, further solidifying the dominant market position of Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy. The current situation suggests that Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy holds a leading position in the flagship chip market this year and is likely to continue its dominance moving forward.
