iPhone SE (4th generation) leaks: Larger screen, Face ID and USB-C, will it replace iPhone 14?
Leaker Sonny Dickson has recently unveiled a photo of what is believed to be a case for the fourth-generation Apple iPhone SE, which is rumored to be released in early 2025. According to the photo, the case for the iPhone SE (4th generation) looks quite similar to the current iPhone SE's case, featuring a single camera and flash hole, a mute switch hole, and raised areas for volume and power buttons. However, since the next-generation iPhone SE will be based on the iPhone 14's design, its dimensions will be larger than the current model.
The fourth-generation iPhone SE is rumored to be equipped with a 6.1-inch OLED display, compared to the 5.45-inch LED backlit panel of the current model. Despite having the same rear camera hole as the current iPhone SE, the fourth-generation iPhone SE is expected to be equipped with a 48-megapixel main camera and a 12-megapixel selfie camera.
Apart from camera upgrades, the iPhone SE (4th generation) is also expected to switch from TouchID to Face ID, and from a Lightning connector to a USB-C connector. With the adoption of Face ID, the new model will have a notch display and support some or all features of the Dynamic Island.
Additionally, there are reports indicating that the iPhone SE (4th generation) will support Apple Intelligence, implying that it will come with an A18 chip and 8GB of RAM.
Regarding the release date, it is unclear when the new device will launch. However, based on previous patterns, iPhone SE models typically launch in spring, so we can expect the fourth-generation iPhone SE to be released in the spring of 2025.
If the above rumors are true, Apple may discontinue the iPhone 14 after the release of the iPhone SE (4th generation) due to their striking similarities. It is unclear whether the iPhone 14 Plus will also be discontinued.
The leaked details of the iPhone SE (4th generation) have sparked speculation about Apple's future product strategy. This new model will be a significant attempt by Apple to penetrate the mid-range market and compete with the iPhone 14 in terms of price and features. The release of the new device also indicates Apple's gradual transition towards adopting the USB-C connector across its product line.
Overall, the emergence of the iPhone SE (4th generation) will offer users more choices and further propel the development of the smartphone market. We look forward to the official release of this new device and hope to learn more about its features and pricing.
