REDMI K80 Pro In-Depth Review: A Comprehensive Upgrade in Performance, Imaging, and Screen, Setting a New Benchmark for High-End Flagships
On the evening of November 27th, REDMI grandly launched its highly anticipated new K80 series. As the inaugural product in REDMI's new decade, the K80 series upholds the philosophy of ultimate performance and premium user experience, returning to the dual flagship combination of K80 and K80 Pro. IT Home was fortunate enough to receive a 16GB RAM + 1TB storage Snow Rock White version of the REDMI K80 Pro. This phone demonstrates outstanding quality in performance, screen, appearance, imaging, and battery life, marking a significant step for REDMI into the high-end market. This article provides a comprehensive analysis of the actual user experience of the REDMI K80 Pro.
I. Exterior Design: A Leap Forward, High-End Texture
The REDMI K80 Pro's packaging design is completely renewed. A light grayish-white is the main color, with a large silver rectangular window on the front, paired with the bold black lettering "K80 Pro," and the REDMI logo below. The overall design is simple and stylish, appearing more high-end and sophisticated.
The phone adopts a new "Leap Forward" design language, with a skyline that visually divides the back panel into upper and lower sections. The upper section embeds a "Cyclone Eye" integrated camera module, while the lower section uses an AG process. This phone boasts extremely high design complexity, employing a large-area light-fog integrated process for the first time, perfectly blending glossy and matte textures on a single back panel. Taking the Snow Rock White color scheme as an example, the upper part is polished to achieve a translucent, pure texture like jade; the lower part features a skin-friendly matte texture, with micron-level crystalline surfaces created on the glass using chip-level lithography technology, resulting in natural flowing lines. Paired with an icy blue tone that subtly shines through the white, the overall effect is exceptionally premium.
The "Cyclone Eye" camera module is surrounded by an aviation-grade aluminum lens ring precisely cut with diamond tools and undergoes a high-brightness anodizing process, creating a refined look. The lens arrangement is inspired by the concept of axial gravity, with three lenses forming an equilateral triangle for a visually harmonious and balanced appearance.
The front of the phone features a 6.67-inch 2K screen, using the same in-screen wiring technology as Xiaomi's flagship phones. The chin is only 1.9mm, visually achieving a four-sided equal-width design. The four corners and the bezel of the screen all use large R-angle curved processing, making the overall look more harmonious and smooth.
The phone uses a metal right-angled frame with a spray-painted surface, incorporating a slight curve at the top and bottom edges of the frame to improve grip and prevent discomfort. The top edge features a hole-less design for the first time, only retaining the antenna lines. The left side of the body has no buttons or openings; the right side houses the volume buttons and power button; and the bottom features the SIM card slot, microphone, speaker, and USB port. The entire phone weighs only 212g.
In summary, the "Leap Forward" design language of the REDMI K80 Pro represents a significant improvement over previous generations. The exquisite craftsmanship and stylish appearance make it appear more high-end and refined, pleasing to the eye.
II. Performance Experience: Flagship-Level Power with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2
The REDMI K80 Pro is equipped with Qualcomm's latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 mobile platform, using a 3nm process. The CPU employs Qualcomm's self-developed Oryon architecture, consisting of 2 super-large cores + 6 large cores. The dual super-large cores have a frequency of up to 4.32GHz, and the 6 large cores have a frequency of up to 3.53GHz. Compared to the previous generation, single-core and multi-core performance has increased by 45%. The GPU uses the latest Adreno 740 architecture, with a 44% performance improvement and a 105% improvement in AI performance. The advanced architecture and process technology result in higher energy efficiency; CPU power consumption is reduced by up to 52%, GPU power consumption is reduced by up to 46%, and AI energy efficiency is improved by 45%.
IT Home conducted a series of benchmark tests on the REDMI K80 Pro: AnTuTu Benchmark v10 achieved a comprehensive score of 2930823 (CPU 601256, GPU 1196484); GeekBench 6 single-core score of 2787, multi-core score of 9138; 3DMark Steel Nomad Light score of 2581; AnTuTu storage performance test showed that the UFS 4.0 flash memory sequential read speed is 3992.2MB/s, sequential write speed is 3974.0MB/s, random read speed is 2253.0MB/s, random write speed is 913.0MB/s, and AI read speed is 451.0MB/s.
In game testing, we chose games with high performance requirements: Genshin Impact, Honkai: Star Rail, Honor of Kings, and Blade of God. Under the highest graphics quality and highest frame rate settings: Genshin Impact averaged 59.7fps with an average power consumption of 4.02W and a maximum temperature of 38; Honkai: Star Rail averaged 59.3fps with an average power consumption of 4.36W and a maximum temperature of 37.4; Honor of Kings (120fps mode) averaged 119.9fps with an average power consumption of 3.16W and a maximum temperature of 35.6; Blade of God (with real-time ray tracing enabled) averaged 59.8fps with an average power consumption of 3.54W and a maximum temperature of 35.5.
The test results show that the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 mobile platform on the REDMI K80 Pro is powerful and offers excellent power control, easily handling both daily use and running large-scale mobile games.
III. Imaging Function Test: Full-Focal-Length Flagship Triple-Camera System, Upgraded Imaging Capabilities
The REDMI K80 Pro is equipped with a full-focal-length flagship triple-camera system. The main camera uses a 50MP Light Hunter 800 sensor with a 13.2EV native ultra-dynamic range, supports OIS anti-shake, and for the first time incorporates "Full-Algorithm Quick Shot" and "High-Quality Lightning Quick Shot 2.0," allowing for continuous shooting of 150 high-dynamic-range, high-quality photos. Additionally, it upgrades to the same flagship floating telephoto lens as the Xiaomi 13, which features a 50MP JN5 sensor, f/2.0 large aperture, and OIS optical image stabilization, supporting 2.5x optical zoom and 5x lossless zoom. The floating focus lens group achieves a focusing distance from 10cm to infinity, supporting super macro capabilities.
Daytime sample images show that the REDMI K80 Pro's standard mode produces photos with bright colors, accurate exposure, rich detail in highlights, and accurate color reproduction. At 2.5x optical zoom and 5x lossless zoom, image details remain sharp, with almost no difference compared to 1x mode. In 0.6x ultra-wide-angle mode, the field of view is wider, and the colors are slightly softer. In 50MP direct output mode, image details are richer, and resolution is stronger.
In environments with strong light contrast, the REDMI K80 Pro demonstrates an excellent dynamic range, preserving the brightness and detail of both the interior and exterior of a garage, with highlights not overexposed and shadows free from significant noise.
The super macro function, using the 5x lossless telephoto lens, allows for clear focus even at very close range to the subject, capturing microscopic details.
The High-Quality Lightning Quick Shot 2.0 function can stably capture fast-moving objects, such as flying seagulls, even in 5x telephoto mode.
In night shots, the REDMI K80 Pro accurately reproduces colors in complex lighting environments, with accurate white balance, bright and clean images, minimal noise, highlights not overexposed, excellent dynamic range performance, and good anti-glare capabilities.
