OnePlus Ace 5 Gaming Performance Deep Dive: The "Overclocked" Evolution of Snapdragon 8 Gen 3
With the booming mobile gaming market, smartphone gaming performance has become a key consumer concern. OnePlus' Ace series has earned widespread praise for its high cost-performance ratio and excellent gaming experience. The upcoming OnePlus Ace 5 pushes the concept of "flagship performance for all" to new heights. OnePlus claims to have deeply optimized the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 at the hardware level, upgrading it to a "Snapdragon 8 Gen 3.5" level. In some gaming scenarios, its power efficiency even rivals that of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, successfully breaking traditional processor limitations on mobile performance.
Currently, the OnePlus Ace 5 hasn't been officially released, so we can only preliminarily assess its performance through gaming tests. All tests were conducted in a 24 room with the OnePlus Ace 5 in performance mode, auto-brightness, and other settings at their defaults.
I. Honor of Kings Test: Extreme Smoothness Under Low Load
First, we tested the popular mobile game, Honor of Kings. In 120fps extreme quality mode, we played for a continuous hour, including four actual battles. Excluding time outside of matches, the average frame rate was 120.4fps, with a very stable frame rate curve. Whether it was skill releases during team fights or quick camera switches, the experience was incredibly smooth.
In terms of power consumption, the OnePlus Ace 5 averaged only 3165.9mW over one hour of Honor of Kings gameplay. In comparison, another Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 phone tested under the same conditions averaged 3350.9mW. This demonstrates the OnePlus Ace 5's significant advantage in power consumption control, approaching the approximately 3W power consumption level common among Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 devices. Surprisingly, after four matches, the temperature on both sides of the OnePlus Ace 5 remained below 40. In summary, in Honor of Kings, the OnePlus Ace 5's frame rate, stability, and temperature control are on par with, or even surpass, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 devices we tested.
II. Genshin Impact Test: Stable Output and Hyper-Frame Experience Under High Load
Next, we tested the more demanding Genshin Impact. In the Sumeru 3.0 scene, we used a 60fps ultra-high quality setting for a 30-minute run-through. The OnePlus Ace 5 achieved an average frame rate of 60.3fps, demonstrating excellent stability. During this time, the average power consumption was 4401.6mW, with an average CPU core temperature of 53, a maximum back temperature of 40.8, and a maximum front temperature of 41.1. Even under high load, the body temperature remained comfortably warm, reflecting the OnePlus Ace 5's excellent heat dissipation design.
For comparison, another Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 flagship phone tested under the same conditions achieved an average frame rate of 59.3fps and a significantly higher average power consumption of 4820.9mW. This again proves the OnePlus Ace 5's advantages in power consumption control and performance.
Even more impressive, the OnePlus Ace 5 supports a hyper-frame function, boosting Genshin Impact's frame rate to 120fps without compromising graphics quality. In the same Sumeru city run-through test with hyper-frame enabled, the OnePlus Ace 5 achieved an average frame rate of 119.6fps, with an average power consumption of 5307.8mW, while temperatures remained around 40, exhibiting minimal change.
III. Comprehensive Performance Analysis: Surpassing its Peers, Setting a New Benchmark
These tests clearly showcase OnePlus' masterful tuning of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. Under low-load gaming scenarios, its power consumption rivals that of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2; under high-load scenarios, its performance surpasses other phones on the same platform.
Overall, the OnePlus Ace 5's gaming performance far exceeds its competitors. Its frame rate stability, power consumption control, and temperature control all meet flagship standards. The OnePlus Ace 5 sets a new benchmark for Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 phones with its comprehensive gaming experience. As OnePlus President Li Jie stated, the OnePlus Ace 5 boasts cutting-edge underlying core game technology, resulting in significantly superior power consumption, temperature, and frame rate performance compared to other phones on the same platform.
IV. Price and Expectations: Another Breakthrough in Cost-Performance
While the OnePlus Ace 5 hasn't been officially released, OnePlus insider Louis has revealed on Weibo: "A more powerful and compelling OnePlus Ace 5 series is coming! More leading performance and gaming experience, at a more affordable price." This suggests the phone will continue the OnePlus Ace series' tradition of high cost-performance. Predictably, with its superior cost-performance ratio, the OnePlus Ace 5 may once again disrupt the high-performance mobile phone market.
If you're looking for a phone that balances flagship performance with an affordable price, wait for the official release of the OnePlus Ace 5 before making your final decision. This test fully demonstrates the OnePlus Ace 5's exceptional gaming performance. Its meticulous tuning and excellent power consumption control make it stand out among similarly priced products, making it ideal for users seeking a high-performance gaming experience. The OnePlus Ace 5's official launch is sure to generate significant market buzz and inject new vitality into the mobile gaming market. Its power consumption and heat dissipation performance also provide valuable experience and reference for other phone manufacturers.
