Xiaomi, a key player in this segment, has generated considerable buzz around its Xiaomi 15 Ultra. Lu Weibing, a prominent figure at Xiaomi, has expressed immense excitement about the phone's camera system on social media, hinting that it will be Xiaomi's first ultra-premium flagship to reach consumers. Reports suggest the Xiaomi 15 Ultra has completed all necessary certifications and is ready for its official release.

The "ultra-premium flagship" label typically implies top-tier imaging capabilities, and the Xiaomi 15 Ultra is no exception. Building upon the previous generation's quad-camera setup with dual telephoto lenses, the Xiaomi 15 Ultra boasts significant upgrades to each camera's specifications, aiming for a comprehensive leap in imaging performance.

The 3x telephoto lens utilizes the familiar IMX858 sensor, featuring 50MP resolution, an f/1.8 aperture, a 75mm equivalent focal length, and 10cm macro photography capabilities. Importantly, this telephoto lens will incorporate a new portrait algorithm, promising enhanced image quality.

The other periscope telephoto lens employs the same 200MP Samsung HP9 sensor found in the vivo X100 Ultra and X200 Pro, with an f/2.67 aperture. For the ultra-wide-angle lens, the Xiaomi 15 Ultra features a 50MP Samsung JN5 sensor, with specifications considered relatively standard. The main camera continues to use Sony's IMX989 1-inch large sensor (model LYT-900) with a large f/1.63 aperture. However, the availability of a variable aperture remains unclear, a point of concern for many users following its absence in the Xiaomi 15 Pro.

In terms of performance, the Xiaomi 15 Ultra will be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 Elite processor, guaranteeing flagship-level performance. Connectivity features include BeiDou and Beidou+BeiDou satellite communication for all models and memory configurations, including support for Beidou + BeiDou dual-satellite communication in the 1TB top configuration.

The display is a 6.73-inch 2K 120Hz deeply curved screen from Huaxing Optoelectronics using an M9 substrate, with enhanced eye protection features. Due to the upgraded camera system, the battery capacity is expected to be reduced to around 6000mAh, with 100W wired fast charging and 50W wireless fast charging.

Additionally, the Xiaomi 15 Ultra will include ultrasonic fingerprint recognition, Dragon Crystal glass, IP68/IP69 waterproof and dustproof ratings, and infrared functionality, demonstrating flagship-level attention to detail.

The Xiaomi 14 Ultra's price has dropped to around 4800, and some competitor flagship models have fallen below 4000.
