As a global partner of the Olympic Games, TCL made its debut at MWC, attracting significant attention with its booth showcasing the latest products across various fields, including smartphones, tablets, computers, VR, and AR. The highlight of TCL's MWC2025 presence was undoubtedly its newest display technology brand APEX. Adhering to the product philosophy of "better display experience, healthier eye protection, and lower power consumption," APEX aims to meet the growing market demand for high-quality display technology. This philosophy was fully reflected in the numerous products on display.

In terms of energy saving, TCL Huaxing showcased the world's first OLED mobile phone screen with the lowest drive power consumption. This screen incorporates a new frequency division technology in the GOA area, reducing power consumption by approximately 8% compared to the previous generation, with a maximum reduction of up to 13%. This breakthrough technology achieves a perfect balance between display quality and power consumption and is expected to appear in numerous domestic mobile phones this year.

Addressing user concerns about eye health, TCL Huaxing launched a WQHD 120Hz LTPS circularly polarized eye-protection screen and another eye-protection screen with the same specifications. The former utilizes circularly polarized light technology, effectively improving screen contrast and reducing glare caused by external light sources, ensuring clear display even in bright environments. The latter integrates 4A anti-glare, anti-reflection, anti-fingerprint, and antibacterial technologies, along with depolarization technology and ultra-low blue light technology, comprehensively protecting users' eyesight.

However, the most striking product was TCL Huaxing's series of products featuring printed OLED technology. Unlike traditional OLED screens, printed OLED screens use inkjet printing technology to precisely print red, green, and blue light-emitting material solutions onto a substrate, followed by drying, annealing, and other processes to form the OLED light-emitting layer. This technology significantly simplifies the production process, improves material utilization, reduces production costs, and enables higher PPI and longer lifespan. Printed OLED technology will undoubtedly become a milestone in the history of display screen development.

Currently, the main drawback of printed OLED technology is its higher cost. The printed OLED 4K professional display screen exhibited by TCL Huaxing is a prime example. This display boasts a 4K resolution, over 99% DCI-P3 color gamut coverage, excellent color performance, and reduced blue light radiation. However, this product is currently primarily used in high-end medical display applications and comes at a high price. We expect TCL Huaxing to further reduce costs, allowing more consumers to enjoy the advantages of printed OLED technology.

Besides the aforementioned products, TCL's booth also showcased a paper-like screen tablet designed for designers, the world's first 4K 144Hz AI tablet, and various smartwatches and AR glasses. These products demonstrate TCL's innovation capabilities and diversified layout in the display technology field.

In a corner of the booth, two behemoths stood out. One, a larger device with more sensors, was a jointly developed VR headset by Huaxing TCL and Varjo, boasting the world's highest mass-produced PPI of 1512. The ultra-high resolution of 1512 PPI delivers stunning image detail, but its weight and heat generation present challenges in terms of wearing comfort. After a personal experience, the reporter found that the weight put a strain on the neck, and the heat generated in the enclosed space was significant, causing discomfort after only three minutes of wear. This product may be more suitable for professionals.

To drive this VR headset, TCL used a high-performance host computer equipped with a 4090 graphics card. However, even the powerful 4090 graphics card experienced frame drops and purple fringing when rendering 8K images, indicating that real-time rendering of 8K images via hardware still faces technological bottlenecks. However, the 3.59-inch, 1500 PPI screen with a single-eye resolution of 4K used in this VR headset is undoubtedly top-tier in the industry. The ultra-high image quality, lighting effects, and detail demonstrated in the demo video were impressive.

Staff also revealed that they are collaborating with another company to develop a VR headset specifically designed for gamers, lighter and more compact, but it is not yet on the market.

During the same period, TCL's shipments of flexible OLED mobile phone panels reached 39 million units, a year-on-year increase of 180%, with its market share rising to third globally, and its foldable screen shipments ranking fourth globally. This fully demonstrates TCL Huaxing's competitiveness in the flexible OLED field.

A few years ago, Samsung OLED screens dominated the high-end smartphone market. Today, TCL Huaxing screens have become standard equipment for domestic flagship phones.
