Realme's highly anticipated bypass charging technology, first introduced on the Realme GT7 Pro Racing Edition launched in February, is set to expand to a wider range of its smartphones. This technology bypasses the battery, powering the phone directly from the external power source during gaming, significantly reducing heat generation and extending battery lifespan.
Realme UI product manager, Kang Da Leo, recently announced that several Realme models will receive this feature via software updates. This includes the GT7 Pro, GT5 Pro, Neo7, GT6, Neo7 SE, GT Neo6, and GT Neo6 SE.
The GT7 Pro will be the first to receive the update in March. Other models will follow subsequently. Leo clarified that individual adaptation, development, and debugging are required for each model, resulting in varying update schedules, but reiterated Realme's commitment to rolling out the technology across its lineup.
So, what exactly is bypass charging? In essence, during high-load tasks like gaming, it allows the phone to draw power directly from the charger, leaving the battery relatively idleneither charging nor discharging. This prevents heat buildup and wear and tear caused by simultaneous high-load discharge and charging, resulting in lower temperatures and extended battery life.
This is particularly crucial for power-intensive tasks like gaming, where prolonged use can drain the battery and cause overheating. Traditional charging puts the battery under "dual stress" from both high discharge and charging, potentially damaging the battery. Bypass charging cleverly isolates these processes, effectively mitigating both heat and battery degradation.
Several Realme models already boast this functionality, including the Realme Neo7x, Realme GT7 Pro Racing Edition, and Realme Neo7 SE, demonstrating its maturity and reliability.
Realme's rapid deployment of bypass charging across its extensive model range underscores its strong R&D capabilities and keen understanding of user needs. This enhancement improves gaming experiences, extends phone lifespan, and signifies the company's commitment to technological innovation within the mobile industry. The expectation is that bypass charging will become a standard feature, enhancing the user experience significantly.
The phased rollout is welcome news for Realme users eagerly awaiting this feature. While individual model adaptation takes time, the broader availability of bypass charging promises smoother performance and longer battery life. This initiative not only showcases Realme's technological prowess and commitment to user experience but also strengthens user loyalty and brand trust.
