网站描述：包头职业技术学院是一所经教育部批准建立的全日制高等职业院校，位于内蒙古自治区最大的工业城市、全国文明城市——包头。学院前身是创立于1956年专门为国防工业培养专业技术人才的国家级重点普通中等专业学校——包头机械工业学校。学院原隶属于中国兵器工业总公司， 1998年经教育部批准建立包头职业技术学院。 2004年被教育部等六部委确定为承担国家技能型紧缺人才培养培训院校之一；2007年被国家国防科技工业委员会确定为首批国防科技工业职业教育实训基地之一；2008年被教育部、财政部确定为“国家示范性高等职业院校建设计划”立项建设院校，成为国家百所示范性高职院校建设单位之一。
